From the menu, I went for the Californian rosé. I expect many will blanch at those New York prices, but I had to have the experience.

in the style of Vincent Van Gogh. The night's show was a tremendous tribute to Aretha Franklin by Des Moines' singer, Tina Hasse Findlay.

During the late-night entertainment, Tina is pictured singing with Max Wellman and accompanied by Steve Charlson on the bass and Jason Danielson at the piano.

The last cocktail. Bar Mordecai, Dundas Street West. We were early at this Wes Anderson-inspired cocktail bar. It did get busy later in the evening. Two days later, bars, nightclubs, theatres and dine-in restaurants were ordered to close.

Way back during the Fall of 1999 there was a sizable dance floor right here where the Lobby Bar presently sits. In fact, the bandstand was erected right up against this south wall. This space was originally constructed as a swanky ballroom dance lounge where a man and a woman could dance Swing, Cha-Cha, Rumba, Waltz, or even a nifty little Foxtrot or Tango late into the night! Clearly much has changed here since 1999 when you and your very lovely lady first visited the newly opened New York-New York Hotel & Casino. You two were staying up north at the Treasure Island Hotel & Casino and on your first night on the Vegas Strip, y’all couldn’t resist venturing down to the South Strip to explore this fabulous tribute to 1940’s Manhattan, New York City.

And that night, you and your very lovely lady fell in love with this captivating South Strip destination.

Fredau is a Dutch model that I've always wanted to work with.

When the opportunity finally presented itself, I was struck with the question where I'd do this shoot.

An answer to that question soon came when I was sipping a nice cocktail at one of my favorite places in town for such delicacy .. HPS ! A friend of mine joked that I should do a shoot there, and the next day I decided to shoot the gents an e-mail if I could use their bar.

Luckily, they said yes ! And a few days later we did the shoot.

This is my fifth modular building. Well, to be fair, it's more a modification than it is my own creation.

My husband bought the instructions for the Apple Store a while ago and enjoyed building it a lot. But since we are not that much into Apple he asked me to replace the store by his favourite brand.

I liked the original building but I always thought that it's not quite the right scale and doesn't really fit together with the other modular buildings. So I took the elements that I like (which are the colours, the facade of the ground floor and the layout of the smaller window) and created my own version.

There's now a Microsoft store on the ground floor with real sliding doors. The interior is mainly based on the original one, only adjusted to the different corporate design.

On the first and second floor there are apartments of a comic-strip artist and a musician.

The highlight is the cocktail bar on the roof terrace which is considered an insider's tip among Bricktown.

The lens doesn't zoom that far but far enough to get to the other side of the street, just what I need in NYC. What a great name for a bar, even better than Mr Bing's Cocktail Lounge in San Francisco

I love 8th Avenue, it keeps some of that midtown New York grit that has been all but erased on most other midtown Avenues

Your night venture has led you 66 floors sky high to this luxurious penthouse cocktail lounge and perhaps to the climax of this busy first day of your Fabulous Las Vegas Strip Getaway. So do not neglect to step out on the airy penthouse patio deck and marvel at the Vegas Strip skyline below — Enjoy The View! 😃😊

Gentlemen — You must never pass on an opportunity to dance the Waltz, Tango, or the Foxtrot with your very lovely lady — or with any very lovely lady! Can you Dig It! 😉

And have you forgotten that when you and your very lovely lady came here in 1999, this space along the south wall of the New York-New York was originally a spacious cocktail lounge with a dance floor and featured live music? And wasn't your first dance that night the Cha-Cha? And wasn't there a giant red apple that spun and glittered high above the dance floor from the ceiling? Were you two sad and a little mad when they removed the cocktail lounge and the dance floor a few years later and then put in more slot machines?

Much has changed here at the NY-NY in the last 21 years -- hasn't it! 🤔

This is how you would want to do date night dinner with your very lovely lady! 😁🌹

By the way — It’s better to ‘Live Las Vegas’ as a couple, but at the same time, it’s far better to ‘Live Las Vegas’ with someone who actually ‘Loves Las Vegas!’ 😉 And it’s better to ‘Live Las Vegas’ Solo rather than to miss out on Vegas Adventures while waiting for someone else.

Every cocktail served here is "on the rocks"...

A cool cocktail bar in Melbourne, the bartender doing some pretty good work with his creations.

A converted S-Bahn carriage from 1920 is home for over 20 years to the Train Cocktailbar, Hauptstraße 162;

Unfortunately, the days of the Bar are counted, because the complex is to be built.

WHAT!! You say no one told you that the Governor of Nevada shut down all the bars in the state!! So you came here not knowing that you can’t get drinks at the bars anymore!?!?

Well — You can get drinks and cocktails, but you have to get them in a restaurant during your meal, or in a sit-down lounge where lounge food is offered. 🤔 So head on across the NY-NY pedestrian bridge to the Whiskey Down Lounge at the MGM Grand and order a Bourbon on the Rocks with some Chicken Tenders. Or have lunch here at Gonzalez y Gonzalez and have cocktails with your Mexican Combo Plate.

Wear your face mask and eventually the Governor will open the bars again. 😷😏

Dear Irving Gramercy NYC

Battersea Power Station is a decommissioned Grade II* listed coal-fired power station, located on the south bank of the River Thames, in Nine Elms, Battersea, in the London Borough of Wandsworth. It was built by the London Power Company (LPC) to the design of Leonard Pearce, Engineer in Chief to the LPC, and CS Allott & Son Engineers. The architects were J Theo Halliday and Giles Gilbert Scott. The station is one of the world’s largest brick buildings and notable for its original, Art Deco interior fittings and decor.

At its peak, Battersea Power Station produced a fifth of London’s power, supplying electricity to some of London’s most recognisable landmarks, such as the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace. Working in tandem with Control Room A, Control Room B managed the distribution of power generated by the Power Station’s turbines. Functionally Control Room B can be divided into two sets of controls. The control desk and freestanding controls synchronised the 66kV output of the station to match the standards of the grid, while the switchgear racks at the rear of the room controlled the power supplies to a range of auxiliary equipment across the power station.

Turbine Hall B was constructed between 1937 and 1941 before construction was halted by the Second World War. It was eventually completed in 1955. It is an almost identical design mirroring Turbine Hall A which had been built between 1929 and 1945. A distinctive difference is that Control Room B gives an overview of Turbine Hall B, whilst Control Room A was built in a separate room from its turbine hall.

Today, as you can see above, an all-day cocktail bar occupies much of the space. However, there are audio tours explaining the control room's instrumentation and equipment. Apparently there's also an escape room.

So how many times during your last 30 years of Loving & Living & Leaving Las Vegas have you found yourself obliged to face the bittersweet resignation of making your final Departure Day walk around? 🤔

But you’ve learned a few good lessons over the decades — haven’t you! 😏

And so given that you have an 11pm flight and that you will likely leave the hotel around 9pm, how will you spend the next several hours?

Your daily routine hasn’t changed much over your course of 30 years of Living Las Vegas. You like to meet people, especially if you are traveling Solo, and so you walk up-and-down the Fabulous Vegas Strip and you spend quality time at the nicest lobby bars on the Strip. Often times you also look for the nicest bar next to a really nice restaurant. People like to come & go around lobby bars and so you meet a lot of people. People like to have fancy cocktails before and after doing a big fancy dinner, so folks will come & go around bars near big fancy restaurants. People will often leave a big fancy nightclub at 2am and then immediately head straight to the lobby bar just to hang out. Sometimes you find out about solo Facebook meet-ups going on at some restaurant bar or sports bar. And this is how you spend your routine days and your Departure Day on the Las Vegas Strip — unlike your very lovely lady who just likes to lay out at the hotel pool and chat with people.

So where do you want to go now? 🤔

Well, Gents — Having spent the last five days pre-celebrating your birthday, and with the bittersweet end of your Vegas Vacation in sight, how do you feel? 🤔

Having dined well, drank well, and slept very well for the last five days, do you now feel ready to leave the Las Vegas Strip and return home to endure another four or five months of grueling and demanding work until your next Vegas Vacation? 🤔 Use this leisure time to do a slow and long ‘Goodbye’ and final visit of this Fabulous Vegas Strip. Don’t wait until tomorrow to say ‘Goodbye’ — do it now! Tomorrow will be too busy and too emotionally bittersweet for doing your final visits of the Strip! Saturday should be mostly about getting your mind ready to go home and report back to work. 😒

Don’t you think?

This is one my favorite "secret" bars in London!

Cahoots is a small cocktail bar, located in what seems like an old abandoned tube station which also served as an air raid shelter in WW2. The entire place is decorated in a post-war context, from the music to the way to the waitresses were dressed. It's such an extraordinary experience that even return clients usually come dressed up, immersing themselves even more in what seems like a scene from an old movie! Did I mention they make amazing drinks too?

Do not be overly bothered by the 90+ degree afternoon heat on the Las Vegas Strip! Surely there's something chilly and fruity on the cocktail menu sufficient to beat the desert heat! 😅🌞
