A converted S-Bahn carriage from 1920 is home for over 20 years to the Train Cocktailbar, Hauptstraße 162;

Unfortunately, the days of the Bar are counted, because the complex is to be built.

There are encounters, which stick in my mind, either because the conversation was so inspiring and interesting, or because of a very special atmosphere. So here. It was exciting and extraordinary.

Together with my friend Robert I went to a very small, but nice cocktail bar in Cologne this evening. We were greeted by a young sympathetic woman behind the counter. Nice music was in the background. Her friendly eyes were laughing at us and quickly a lively conversation developed about all sorts of topics.

The charm of Nina, that’s her name, caught us immediately. Nina is born in Cologne. Since 6 years the cocktail Juicy Dreams belongs to her; earlier Nina had worked in the business of her sister, but that did not fit. Her dream and her fulfillment is now this little cocktailbar. That you could feel, that was in the air. Accompanied and protected is Nina by Carlos, her dog. As we were able to convince also, as an disagreeable man was in front of the open door of the cocktail bar.

A long time I have not done such a nice conversation. It was evident to convince Nina to join in 100-Stranger project. Nina agreed immediately. What developed then, had not happened to me with my 115 encounters. Nina posed and moved in front of the camera like a professional model, as if there is nothing easier to stand in front of the camera and to be photographed. Nina is a real natural talent and it she enjoyed obviously the shooting. I think we would still be able to photograph for hours. Unfortunately, the lighting conditions were not quite ideal, but the photos of Nina are worth to be shown, because I believe that the special atmosphere can be seen (leastwise in my imagination).

Nina, I thank you for this beautiful, atmospheric, relaxing, inspiring and remarkable evening. Our photo shoot was exceptional. If I'm back in Cologne, I'll certainly drop in for a cocktail. Perhaps we can then continue the series of photographs. Until then I wish you all the best and always nice guests. Thank you for this wonderful evening.

By the way: The cocktailbar of Nina should be mentioned in every city guide about Cologne!!!

Two fashion-forward lads pause outside the bright red frontage of Panda & Sons on Queen Street, Edinburgh. At first glance it looks like a vintage barbershop—“Haircut 25¢. Shave 25¢”—but push through the secret bookcase door and you enter one of Edinburgh’s most celebrated speakeasy-style cocktail bars.

Launched in 2013 by Iain McPherson, Panda & Sons hides beneath the barbershop facade and mixes premium cocktails with sub-zero mixology techniques: Freeze-concentration, “switching” water out of spirits, and other avant-garde methods.

It’s not just gimmick — the bar was ranked No. 30 in the world in the 2024 edition of The World’s 50 Best Bars.

So yes — those two are probably wondering whether that sharp red door hides a trim or a tipple.

This is my fifth modular building. Well, to be fair, it's more a modification than it is my own creation.

My husband bought the instructions for the Apple Store a while ago and enjoyed building it a lot. But since we are not that much into Apple he asked me to replace the store by his favourite brand.

I liked the original building but I always thought that it's not quite the right scale and doesn't really fit together with the other modular buildings. So I took the elements that I like (which are the colours, the facade of the ground floor and the layout of the smaller window) and created my own version.

There's now a Microsoft store on the ground floor with real sliding doors. The interior is mainly based on the original one, only adjusted to the different corporate design.

On the first and second floor there are apartments of a comic-strip artist and a musician.

The highlight is the cocktail bar on the roof terrace which is considered an insider's tip among Bricktown.

Gentlemen — This Departure Day walk-around is not a frantic last desperate attempt to make up for camera safari work you overlooked during your time here. No Gentlemen — You feel like you spent your time well. You made your vacation days last a long time. You made time slow down. Therefore you feel no pressure today. You feel ready to go home for a few months and then to come back to do more. And you will come back — You’ll come back because in spite of the dual and deadly threat of the Delta and the Omicron Variants of the Coronavirus Global Pandemic — Life Is Still Good Here! 🌞😎

So go ahead and begin your final walk of the Fabulous Las Vegas Strip, but do be sure to return here to the strikingly swanky Petrossian Bar for your last double Bourbon on the Rocks. 😏

Your very lovely lady is calling you right now from the back seat of a local taxi leaving Harry Reid International Airport. She has her two adorable and very playful Westie Terriers with her in the taxi and she’s rapidly heading up Paradise Road and she has no place to stay and she has nothing to wear. 😧😧

Obviously you have been caught totally off guard — But what do you do about it!?!? 😟

Do you send her and her two pups to your guest room at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino? Or do you immediately dash directly to the Hilton Resort front desk to book your very lovely lady into a Queen Guest Room for the week? 😉

Or do you immediately use this sudden mishap as a convenient excuse to book yourself into a Strip-View/One-Bedroom Suite at the Crockfords Resort! And therefore you would send your woman to your guest room at the NY-NY. 😏

Once your very lovely lady has gotten settled in her guest room, you must bring her up here to the Genting Palace Lounge for dinner and cocktails! 😅

By the way, this space is set to be converted into the Hennessy Tiki Lounge! 😈 Or will it be the Golden Monkey?

I captured this portrait of Ludovica in a small cocktail bar, located in an old abandoned tube station which also served as an air raid shelter in WW2. The entire place is decorated in a post-war context, from the music to the way to the waitresses were dressed. The best seats in the house are set in an old tube coach. It was quite an extraordinary experience, while I'll be repeating again in the near future.

Rue de Tracy | Rue Saint-Denis 07/02/2023 22h05

Love the front of this cocktail bar. I have not been inside but from the outside I already love what I see. New player insert coin!

Rue de Tracy

Rue de Tracy is a street in the 2ème arrondissement of Paris in the quartier Bonne-Nouvelle. Starts at 127, boulevard de Sébastopol and ends 100 meters further at the 222, rue Saint-Denis. Width is 10 meters.

It bears the name of Antoine Destutt de Tracy (1754-1836), politician, philosopher and general of the Revolution.

The street was opened in 1784 on the grounds of the convent of the Daughters of Saint-Chaumont, under the name of « rue des Dames-Saint-Chaumont », and very quickly took the name of « rue de Tracy ».

Nearest métro stations are Strasbourg-Saint-Denis (4, 8, 9) and Réaumur-Sébastopol (4, 3).

Rue Saint-Denis

Rue Saint-Denis is one of the oldest streets in Paris. Its route was first laid out in the 1st century by the Romans, and then extended to the north in the Middle Ages. From the Middle Ages to the present day, the street has become notorious as a place of prostitution. Its name derives from it being the historic route to Saint-Denis.

The street extends as far as the 1st arrondissement and Rue de Rivoli to the south and as far as the 2nd arrondissement and the boulevard Saint-Denis to the north. It runs parallel to the boulevard de Sébastopol.

The ancient Roman route (Flanders road) leading to Saint-Denis, Pontoise and Rouen it competed with the "route de Senlis" (see rue Saint-Martin) but gained an advantage over it with the demolition of the Grand Pont (see Pont au Change) and the development of the royal abbey of Saint-Denis, becoming the triumphal way for royal entries into the capital.

Flanked by houses from 1134 onwards, the street has borne the alternative names of Sellerie de Paris and Sellerie de la Grande Rue (13th century) ; grand'rue de Paris ; grande rue or rue des Saints Innocents et grant chaussée de Monsieur / Monseigneur Saint-Denis (14th century). During the French Revolution, it was known as the rue de Franciade.

The street was one of the centres of the June Rebellion of 1832, immortalised in Victor Hugo's novel Les Misérables, and which is referred to in the book as the "Epic of the Rue Saint-Denis".

The neighborhood around the rue Saint-Denis is now above all made up of sex shops, with the part situated between rue Réaumur and boulevard Saint-Denis notorious as a place of prostitution. The street also contains some clothes shops, bars and restaurants, as well as the church of Saint-Leu-Saint-Gilles, a bank, and the Chambre des notaires building. The Frog and Rosbif Brew Pub is located here, one of only a very small number of cask conditioned beer producers in France.

Today is an important day!

Today you get to meet you favorite Flickr Friend/Mentor, and possibly his very lovely wife! This Gent has been your your Flickr inspiration for the last eleven years! You two are avid explorers of the wonderfully wide world of the Terrifically Tantalizing Triptych, that being: Journalism, Photojournalism, and Art! 😀 His, and his wife’s, 2010 pre grand-opening photo survey and romantic romp of the Cosmopolitan Hotel & Casino was brilliant! 😃 This Vegas Strip meet-up is inevitable and thus you are here at your favorite bar at the Bellagio Resort & Casino where your mentor and his lovely wife are staying.

Life Is Good! 😌

As part of our anniversary weekend, we decided it would be nice to have an afternoon tea on the Sunday. Afternoon teas can be very expensive and not all the options were open to us on a Sunday, but we found one that was perfect for us - the B Bar! Instead of sandwiches on the bottom shelf - there's usually one sandwich that no one wants! - there was fish and chips! Top shelf up was the traditional scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam. The middle shelf was a selection of desserts. We had to admit defeat after the lovely scones, so the kind waitress gave us a box so we could (carefully!) take the desserts home on the train! It was lovely and I highly recommend it!

Located beneath London’s largest living wall, bbar is a vibrant cocktail bar and restaurant in the heart of Victoria, London. Opposite Buckingham Palace and close to Victoria Station, bbar is perfectly positioned, and offers pre-theatre dining for Hamilton and Wicked at nearby theatres. Our menu features signature classics with a modern twist, from fish and chips to our popular 'Son of a Gun' burger. Enjoy delicious signature cocktails on our sunny terrace or catch live sports screenings, all in a family-friendly environment. (From the B Bar website)

A six-hour layover at JFK gave me to drop anchor at the TWA Hotel and the chance to admire ‘Connie’, the retired Lockheed Super Constellation parked outside. It now serves as a cocktail bar, which is fun to visit. On this occasion, I spent a princely sum on a pizza, glass of red wine + tip, so I thought it best not to hammer the credit card any further.
