Originally intended for anglers, the jetty, built in 1902, became a seaplane launch site twenty years later. Today it is used as a dignified bar.
Last weekend I had a fun photoshoot with some friends and we wound up taking some photos in front of this window with a red neon sign and velvet curtains. After a little while, Igor came out and introduced himself as the bar owner to which the window belonged. What a cool fellow, I asked if he would let me take his portrait and he kindly obliged.

There was, and maybe still is, an old cocktail bar along Mosque Street in Singapore where old guys and odd couples hang out late at night. There's a billiard table in the back, and drinks are (relatively) cheap. We did a set of shots in this bar for Cherie's album way back then.
I could only ever get shots like this with the D700. Just a different character altogether.
Glowing like a power source is Control Room B, a bar in the depths of the refurbished Battersea Power Station. Very cool. We visited on a Saturday, so there were quite a few people waiting.
As well as traditional drinks, also on offer are cocktails such as 66,000 Volts, High Voltage and Battery Licker!
Santé!

The syringe-like building in the background is a hotel and residential high-rise in Augsburg's Antonsviertel district called Hotelturm. It was built between 1971 and 1972 and is the highest building in the Augsburg area measuring 115 m (167 m including the antenna mast, from which several VHF radio channels are transmitted).
In the foreground you can see Gögginger Straße with the BLACK LOTUS cocktail bar in the low, colorful building. From the mid-1960s to 1972, this location was home to the legendary beat and rock club BIG APPLE, which was usually just called "Apfel".
One of the disc jockeys there was the no less legendary Rudi Schäble, for many the best disc jockey the world has ever seen. During the day, customers of the renowned Durner record store near the town hall benefited from his enormous expertise. Rudi was also the first celebrity in Augsburg to openly show his homosexuality. The criminalization of homosexual acts was just about to be abolished at the end of the 1960s.
In later years, it was clear to anyone with a sense of smell that cannabis products were constantly being smoked in the Apple. That didn't bother me, as I liked to have a puff or two myself from time to time. Nobody in my circle of acquaintances took hard drugs, so I only know about what happened in connection with hard drugs in the Apfel from hearsay and the newspapers: syringes were found in the toilets during raids, and there were probably also drug-related deaths. In any case, the club was closed in 1972 because of too many drug offenses.
After the construction of the "Hotelturm" with its antenna mast, many people felt reminded of the syringes that had been found in the Apple toilets.

Those zebras in the background do have a connection with the quirky Daimler. The 'Golden Zebra' Coupé has seat covers made from zebra skin, an ivory dashboard, a cocktail bar, a picnic set and a leather suitcase set. This model from 1955 is a creation of Lady Docker, a former nightclub dancer who was married to a chairman of BSA, the owner of Daimler. Every year she got the chance to style a model and in 1955 this was the Golden Zebra.

Summer finally arrived in London, and what better place to spend a warm Friday evening than on the Southbank with friends and a cocktail or two?

Few cities in the world fire the imagination like Bangkok. Ornate palaces that host royal processions, Buddhist temples that witness monks chanting ancient sutras, canals that lead to a maze of water markets, night bazaars that never sleep - have long proved a powerful magnet for travellers. In this sprawling metropolis, Banyan Tree Bangkok, a 5-star luxury hotel in Sathorn road, offers a spectacular rooftop restaurant and bar - Vertigo Grill & Moon Bar on the elevated 61th floor. The hostess Suritawa welcomes us with the hospitality Thailand is famous for. The Moon Bar is a completely open air restaurant and cocktail bar with unobstructed 360 views of the city below. It is breathtaking. The greater Bangkok area has a population of around 12 million. This has in turn shifted the country from being a rather homogeneous Thai population to an increasingly vibrant mix of Western, Indian and Chinese people, giving the city a cosmopolitan status. Bangkok is known in Thai as Krung Thep Mahanakhon. The ceremonial name translates it to The city of angels.
Photo on the 62th floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel- Sathorn road in Bangkok at Moon Bar opening hours: 6.30pm - 11pm (weather permitting). I think it is fair to say i have stepped into many a bar in my lifetime and it's quite difficult to impress me. This bar blew my cotton socks off. Kanitha enjoyed her amazing cocktail ' Romance on the Moon' which arrived in a glass bowl on a silver tray with dry ice steaming out from it, orchids, orange and a rose finished it off. According several websites It's one of the best bars in the world!
Our second night dinner was Rojo Bistrot a favourite.
The bistro is a small corner dining room, Amsterdam 71, at Av. Parras, Colonia Condesa.
The bistrot opened in 1999.
The bistrot cuisine is French based with a touch of Moroccan. The restaurant has a well priced wine list,
On this visit tables were well spaced to meet COVID protocols. There is also patio seating - nope smoker heaven.
A favourite dish here is the grilled steak with black pepper, mustard, or herb butter sauce - yummy.
