It was a full kit that I ordered out of England. It took about 6 hours to build at a leisurely rate.
Years ago, I used to work at a PBS station. It had a Master Control room, full of decks and monitors and buttons and whatnot. It was where satellite feeds were recorded and shows were played back. So, everything runs on time, having a clock was pretty essential.
Being a PBS station, even the clock was a kit of some sort. It kept horrible time and and we made fun of it on a regular basis.
That being said, I had a fantastic time working there and made a bunch of friends that I keep up with to this day.
So, that's why I wanted one.

I used an old Canon optical image stabilizer lens [EF-S 17-85mm 1:4-5.6 IS USM] on an EOS 450D DSLR. With exposures of up to a 1/4 of a second, most of the images had to be discarded, and the remainder are very "grainy" / "noisy", but the pictures at least form a sort of record of the event...

Our Young Women's group is having a New Beginings evening next Tuesday and I've made these altered CD clocks as a handout for each of the girls. The theme of the night is 'Now is a great time to be a Young Woman' hence the clock and the quote is the 13th Article of faith which is our theme for 2011. They took me ages and I haven't done anything like this before so I'm quite pleased with the results. I just hope the girls appreciate them!

Considering its age, (over 200 years) the clock was in pretty good condition. It was filthy and part of the pediment was missing (presumably removed to fit into a lower ceilinged house). This picture shows a patch before and after cleaning.

In the course of time, the Gate Tower was used for the council’s meetings and for storing Sighisoara’s archive and thesaurus. The Gate Tower was named the Clock Tower after 1604, when a clock with a wood mechanism was installed in it. In 1648 the blacksmiths of Sighisoara rebuilt that mechanism using metal components and improved it so that its hands also indicated the minutes. The two faces of the clock are each 2.4 meters in diameter, and one of them looks towards Downtown, and the other towards the Citadel. In 1964 the clock was equipped with an electric engine. Nowadays, Turnul cu Ceas (the Clock Tower) shelters the History Museum of the town.
