Christian Ackermann was born in Königsberg. He worked in Riga, Stockholm, and Gdańsk, before becoming active in Tallinn from about 1672 until his death in 1710. In 1675, Ackermann moved to Tallinn and acquired his own workshop. He probably died either in 1710 or a short time later from plague.
Christian Ackermann was one of the greatest masters of the Baroque style in Estonia. He brought strong Central European influences to Northeast Europe, in particular the motifs of the Baroque and masterful Acanthus ornaments.
365 day clock on mantelpiece in front of mirror. This is a blend of two photos, the in-focus clock and an out of focus image. Processed in LAB colour space with Affinity photo, the two shots are blended using Affinity luminosity blend. With no further adjustment, the luminosity blend eliminated the blown out specular highlights in the in-focus image. A curves layer was then added to adjust the colours and contrast. I should add that the RAW (ORF) files were converted to DNG using DxO Pure RAW; this highlighted the blown-out regions in pink - red.
The clock is interesting. I picked it up years ago in a second-hand shop in Dunedin (NZ). Turns out that it is twin to a clock held in the Otago Early Settlers Museum, dating from the time of the first european arrivals, and bearing an inscription dedicating it to the captain of the vessel that carried them, presumably a gift from grateful passengers to the captain, expressing their thanks for a safe journey. Our clock bears no inscription.
Prague's astronomical clock is the third oldest astronomical clock in the world and the only one still working. Decorating the facade of the Old Town Hall in Prague's Old Town Square, the clock dates back to 1410. The top portion of the clock tells time as well as the position of the sun and moon. The bottom portion was added 80 years after the original clock and serves as a calendar. There are also several figures decorating the clock; a skeleton representing Death strikes the time each hour - eerily my favorite part of the clock~!

Dandelions are once again sprouting up all over, prompting the city, lawn-care specialists and amateur gardeners alike to again declare war on the broad leaf weed.
A dandelion is really many tiny flowers bunched together.
Each little flower becomes a seed...
We don't like them in our gardens.
AND YET: The dandelion plant is a beneficial weed, with a wide range of uses, and is even a good companion plant for gardening.
Its taproot will bring up nutrients for shallower-rooting plants, and add minerals and nitrogen to soil.
It is also known to attract pollinating insects and release ethylene gas which helps fruit to ripen.
Taraxacum seeds are an important food source for certain birds.
Great in a salad etc...

An old clock tower sits nestled amongst layers of Autumn colours.
Note to self: remember when changing lenses on a D3100 that it remembers the exposure settings used the last time the lens was used :(
The Clock Tower of Cardiff's City Hall is perhaps the most distinctive architectural feature of the building, bold and asymmetrical and a well-loved Cardiff landmark. It's also been home to a pair of peregrine falcons for the last few years.

The clock frame, which contains the mechanism, is 5’10” in length and made of one solid piece of cast iron, ensuring perfect rigidity. The escapement is a three-legged ‘gravity’ design, and made of gun-metal. The time is shown on four twelve foot wide gilded dials, one on each face of the tower.
in Ahmadi, there is a light miniature in every roundabout. With the changing color of this clock, I thought the best way to take all of its light is to merge it into HDR. Around six shots were used ranging from EV-4 to EV+2. I didn't dare to upload the original size for the obvious noise level at 100% zoom!

Yet another funky appartement building at Aarhus Ø. It is called Kampanilen and is by B.I.G. (Bjarke Ingels Group).
Which ever direction you look in Salzburg, beauty. And as if the architecture isn't enough, you have snow covered mountains in the background! Love that city....
