The Korean language course, the Sejong Institute, at the KCCUK, is a social education course that not only teaches the Korean language but also introduces Korean culture to students.
From 2011, the course has been reinvigorated and re-modeled so that it now includes a wider introduction to all aspects of Korean Culture. Although still catering for Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced learners of Korean the course is very different to what has gone before. These three new courses focus upon and explore contemporary Korean Culture through the language with modules including, cuisine, music, fashion, movies, society and working in Korea to name but a few.
Upon completing the course students are able to express themselves in Korean on a vast range of topics.
All our courses are Free, kindly supported by the Sejong Institute.

Pictured here is a shorthand class in the School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, in 1976. Students are listening to tape cassettes and recording what is being said using shorthand notation. Shorthand, alternately known as stenography, is an abbreviated and quick style of writing that allows words to be written as quickly as they are spoken. It was considered essential in business, secretarial, and journalism education until computers offered a more efficient way of recording dictation. The style of shorthand most commonly used in the United States is the Gregg style. Although shorthand is largely a thing of the past, stores still regularly sell Gregg-ruled notebooks (with a spiral binding on the top and a line bisecting each page), which were designed for Gregg shorthand.
Ever since the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire opened its doors in 1916 as the Eau Claire State Normal School, technology has played an important role in the education of generations of students. This album illustrates how technology has changed, from typewriters to computers, from records to reel-to-reel tape, and everything in between.
