- www.kevin-palmer.com - The Pryor Mountains are split into two high points, Big Pryor Mountain and East Pryor Mountain. The elevation for both is just under 8,700 feet. This is the view from East Pryor Mountain in the morning.
Little Sable Point Light on a perfect August afternoon. The distinctive red brick light tower is located in Silver Lake State Park in Oceana County about half way up the Lake Michigan shore.
The Hart Congregational United Church of Christ dates from 1885. Presumably the altar and nave are on the other side of this large stained glass window.
Fishing gloves, hanging up to dry against a fishing shack, along with an old wooden float. This was taken on a recent trip to Matheson Island, Manitoba, about an hour and a half north of Gimli. To get there we travelled on gravel roads and took a short cable ferry ride across to the island. It has a distinct maritime quality, and exudes rustic charm around every corner. The residents are mostly fishermen, and were very friendly and welcoming. Luckily, the skies were beautiful and the sun came out.
The community of Matheson Island is situated on the island with the same name near the Narrows on Lake Winnipeg. Nearby communities include Princess Harbour, Pine Dock and the Bloodvein Indian Reserve. While Pine Dock is on the same side of the lake as Matheson Island, the other communities are about 16 kilometres across the lake.
For Bald Eagle birders and naturalists, Bald Eagle Island Tours offer wonderful fall packages to people interested in photographing these incredible birds. Over 300 birds have been spotted "staging" along the shores of Matheson Island before migrating south. They stop every year at the near-by fishplant to feed. Some of the eagles stay year-round, apparently. And, they are as bold as they are bald, and will swoop down and grab fish in their talons that the fishermen toss away. They also sit in the trees along the shorlines of Black Bear Island and keep vigil for the fishermen, who are an important source of food for these incredible raptors.
Think I might have to make a return trip soon to Matheson Island to get acquainted with the Bald Eagles. (This photo was taken using a Circular Polarizer filter).
The Watson-Curtze Mansion on West Sixth Street was built in 1891 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It has been owned by the Erie County Historical Society and operated as a museum for many years. It is currently undergoing a major restoration.
It's always a thrill to round that last bend in the creek and catch that first glimpse of the waterfall.
Oh what beautiful skies! San Diego is sunny, but rarely do we get a spotted cloudy blue sky like this. When we do, it's magic.
This 1903 memorial to local soldiers who died in the Civil War is located on the grounds of the Oceana County Courthouse.
- www.kevin-palmer.com - I liked this view of Mount Harwood as I descended Mount Baldy. Beyond and to the right you can see the mountains trapping the clouds of the marine layer. On the left is where the desert starts and Interstate 15 can be seen in between.
On the road to Villa Bosniasky in Asciano,
stopping by to take poetry lessons from a poppy.
But poppies don't like poetry.
They are quite scared of typewriters and artificial lamps.
- www.kevin-palmer.com - At 6,656' high, Warren Peak is the tallest point of the Bear Lodge Mountains, which are part of the Black Hills in Wyoming. A road takes you to the top, where there is a fire lookout tower that is manned during fire season. This view is looking east of the tower.

All afternoon, the staff at Wente had been telling me how amazing this shot would turn out when the sun finally set. They weren't kidding, were they? Holy cow. I ♥ my polarizer.

Looking at the backside of a hail and heavy rain producing supercell thunderstorm that I witnessed coming into Coles County in East Central Illinois yesterday evening.
I was really happy with this unexpected outcome of yesterday evening!
A high school student lost in what has become a universal pose.
First in a series of photos of teen students taken Friday at our Springfest and Powder Puff football game. A little break from bridges and landscapes. ;D

During our drive through the Waimea Canyon road, these falls are extraordinary sight in the distance,
Jamie wanted a few pictures to give her husband, so we set up at one of the best spots in Cookeville to capture the beautiful blue sky that the morning provided. This was my favorite image from our shoot.

The first of many nice waterfalls on Sulphur Springs, a tributary of the Chagrin River in the South Chagrin Reservation.
After buying a new car a month ago, I thought it time to take a one-day road trip - 15 hours in total. I headed around the southern bend of Lake Michigan and followed the coast of the lake up some 300 miles into Michigan. The Blue Star Highway was absolutely gorgeous to drive. Here are my favorite pics of the day.
I tossed all of the other visitors in the water, so I'd have a shot of the lighthouse with no one else around. Kidding, there are a bunch of people on the opposite side and it was good timing!
