400) Chestnut Necklaced Partridge
Chestnut-necklaced Partridge, Arborophila charltonii, Sang Serok Rimba
This partridge is found in the Thai-Malay Peninsula, Aceh, South Sumatra and Sabah. They probably forages in small groups, eating seeds, berries and termites. Its breeding has not been recorded. Its call is loud, steady couplets and triplets of whistles, and pairs often duet. It is suspected to be declining because deforestation, logging and forest fires have destroyed much habitat and it is trapped and traded. The IUCN has assessed it as a vulnerable species. Near threatened and totally protected species in Peninsular Malaysia.
This chickadee was getting seeds from the pine cones.

Rather large, dark, yellow-tailed bird of humid evergreen forest and edge in tropical lowlands. Where present, colonies of large pendulous nests adorn tall trees. Often in flocks, usually in forest canopy at fruiting trees. Male is much larger than female, but sexes look similar, with a dark, rich brown head and body, blackish upperparts, pale yellowish bill, and bold yellow tail sides. Flight much quicker than larger Montezuma Oropendola, with deep, rather swooping wingbeats that produce a rushing sound.

The chestnut-bellied nuthatch belongs to the family Sittidae. It is found in the Indian Subcontinent occurring in the countries of India, Tibet Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal. It is found in subtropical or tropical forest, that are dry or moist forests, and in montane and lowland forests.

Chestnut Munia, Lonchura atricapilla, Pipit Rawa
Also known as Black-Headed Munia is a resident breeding bird in Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Burma, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and also Hawaii. Also a national bird of Phillipines until 1995. The chestnut munia is a small gregarious bird which feeds mainly on grain and other seeds. It frequents open grassland and cultivation. The nest is a large domed grass structure in a bush or tall grass into which 4-7 white eggs are laid.
Pipit Rawa biasanya kelihatan di kawasan terbuka terutama padang rumput yang diliputi rumput jenis bunga berbiji seperti Guinea. Ia akan berterbangan mencari makan dalam kumpulan yang besar.
I photographed these folks during two brief encounters in Guelph. However, I wasn't entirely satisfied with the photo quality as they were taken during gloomy weather. Fortunately, I had another opportunity when I visited the Long Point Bird Observatory last weekend. Overall, the experience was quite fulfilling and left me feeling happy.
This was a recent lifer for me! Added to my collection of Boreal, Mountain and Black-capped chickadees! Powell River BC!

A yellow crown, white underparts and bold chestnut streaking set this warbler apart. Seen at nesting grounds. Port Huron SGA.
Most of the Fall coloured Warblers are not as interesting as they are in their spring outfit, but the diminutive Chestnut-sided in juvie of autumn colouring I think (in my humble opinion) is just as nice if not more so.
