During the Catalan Chestnut Party (La Castanyada), a fire is prepared for roasting chestnuts. La Castanyada falls halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice, namely the 31st of October (the night before All Saints Day). It originates from old funerary rituals (18th century), commonly used to commemorate ancestors that have passed away.

The Chestnut-sided Warbler sings two basic songs: one is accented at the end (the pleased-to-meetcha song), and the other is not. Males sing the accented songs primarily to attract a female; once nesting is well underway they switch over to the unaccented songs, which are used mostly in territory defense and aggressive encounters with other males. Some males sing only unaccented songs, and they are less successful at securing mates than males that sing both songs.

I believe I have correctly identified this bird, but if you see it differently, don't hesitate to speak up.

It was the end of the day and we were headed back to the lodge ready to call it a day when we spotted flocks of these birds flew in to drink water from puddles in the road. So we stopped and flock after flock kept streaming in, giving us ample opportunity to try to catch them in flight.

Not yet roasting on an open fire...but give me time. Mmmmm.
