This is not a bird I have seen many times so while checking out the Sumas Mountain Regional Park I was pleased to find a couple.

Chestnut-mandibled toucan or Swainson's toucan (Ramphastos ambiguus swainsonii).

The call of the chestnut-mandibled toucan is a yelping Dios te dé, Dios te dé (Spanish for "God give you...").

Shot with the Nikon 500mm PF prime lens with the 1.4 teleconverter. So I'm at 700mm. Nikon D850. 1/1250, f/8, ISO 3200.

The Chestnut Wood-Quail (Odontophorus hyperythrus) is endemic of Colombia. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forest. It is becoming rare due to habitat loss.

This is the only member of the Danainae to be found in Korea. This is the first one I have seen in 14 years here. It fed placidly on Eupatorium fortunei, as well as on fleabane. Welcome!
