And here are the evening's chefs! That's Laurent on the left, assisted by his friend I've forgotten the name of, and Craig stepping into the picture while looking for a bottle opener. They are showing off the potato-and-cheese extravaganza they've prepared, about to pop it in the oven. You can hopefully get a sense of how spacious the boat is from this picture -- although it also shows the more unfinished aspects of Opium: all the exposed wiring overhead, and notice there's no insulation yet -- it got VERY cold overnight. Fortunately every morning there was hot coffee/tea/chocolate for all, and plentiful amounts of bread and cheese and of course butter on everything. Plus wonderful company -- the boat builder, Jean-Pierre, even stopped by each morning for a coffee before starting work. I've never been on a boat out of water before -- I kept expecting it to slosh around a bit, but it was unexpectedly solid and steady.

More than $115,000 in net proceeds was raised last night at the 26th annual Chefs’ Feast for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s Food for Kids program. Thanks to the support from area restaurants and the community, 575 chronically hungry students will now have access to food over the weekends and school holidays.
