We found this interesting roadside stall in the back streets of rural Toogoolawah when we finally got out for a country drive a few weeks ago. It attracted my attention for a few reasons - the pumpkin patch next door to the house is obviously going gang busters and the honesty box has the lovely Kent or Jap pumpkins for $3 or $4 when they were averaging about $3.49 per kilogram at the local supermarkets. An average pumpkin at those shops costs $12 upwards.
Australians eat a lot of pumpkins and I must admit I love them. Being a collector of letterbox photos just meant this one was icing on the cake.
The ironbark timber is going to burn nice and slow and hot too.
Good morning everyone. Just a short video of about 40 seconds long I'd like to share that was taken from the front yard of "the pond across the street".
The pond is small...maybe 4-5 acres in size. Bordered by some open space, 3 roads and two homes. During the winter months anywhere from 100 - 200 Canada Geese (Branta canadensis) visit almost daily. They usually spend the entire day there before leaving at dusk. The whole process is repeated the next day, then the next until Spring. Never do they stay overnight at the pond...while a group of Mallard ducks do year around.
On New Year's Day when this video was taken an unusually large number of geese spent the day at the pond. Way more than normal. I estimate there were at least 500...maybe more. A lot more since the video shows only about 2/3 of the geese at the time. I couldn't video the entire pond, or all the geese, because of some trees.
Quite often groups of geese will wander onto the front lawn in search of acorns...hence the reason for the title. Cheap fertilizer.
Thank you for stopping by...and I hope you're having a truly nice first week of 2017.

I asked him what brand of loafers they were. He said, "I don't know...let me see." Caught him as he removed his shoe.
Often, the cheapest skirts can be among the best. I absolutely love wearing this black skirt. The length and flare are fabulous, and the fabric has a nice feel to it. However, it was just a cheap buy from Matalan :-)

First time getting to grips with my welding glass filter properly, pretty pleased with the result, definitely worth the £1 or so I spent on it...
While Larry and I were walking around the amusement pier we spied some foot massage machines for a quarter, and I said that was just about my speed, so Larry handed me a quarter and I gave it a try!
OMG......LOL!!! It almost rattled the fillings right out of my teeth.
My feet were all tingly and I had trouble walking back down the boardwalk!!
In the early 1950s the Royal Air Force realised that it could streamline its training programmes if jet powered aircraft only were used. As a result of this, a requirement for a new dedicated training aircraft was issued to UK aircraft manufacturers. Originally developed by Percival as a cheap jet-powered derivative of its successful Alvis Leonides, radial-engined Piston Provost, the Jet Provost evolved into an entirely new aircraft. Powered by a Bristol-Siddeley Viper 102 engine, the prototype aircraft (XD674) took its first flight on 26th June 1954. It soon caught the eye of the RAF with its side by side layout and superb handling qualities, and was appreciated enough for the RAF to purchase an initial batch of nine airframes. They were incorporated in a new training syllabus with 2 Flight Training School (2FTS) based at RAF Hullavington, and performed very successfully.
As a result of this the Royal Air Force adopted the Jet Provost and ordered 201 T.3s in June 1959, and announced that the 'JP' would become the standard basic RAF trainer. The T.3's differed from the T.1s in having Martin Baker ejection seats, tip tanks, updated cockpit avionics and a clear-view canopy.
In November 1961 the RAF issued a follow-on order for a further 198 Jet Provosts T.4's. Powered by an updated Rolls Royce Viper 202 instead of the 102 used in the T.3, these were built and delivered by the British Aircraft Corporation (BAC) until 1964.
In 1967 the RAF made a final order for further JPs, this time 105 Jet Provost T.5s. Two prototypes were built by BAC (XS230 and XS231), and the first of these first flew on February 28th 1967. The T.5 was different from the earlier T.4 with a pressurised cockpit, re-designed windscreen, sliding canopy, longer nose and new wings. Deliveries of this type started in the latter years of the 1960's. Five T.55's were also built and sold to Oman, and the type also enjoyed success in the overseas market with Sri Lanka, Kuwait, Iraq and Venezuela Air Forces.
As a result of the success of the T.5 BAC looked at producing a JP that could also be used as a light attack aircraft as well as a trainer, and the result was the Strikemaster. Changes made to the airframe included 8 stores hard-points underneath the wings, a strengthened airframe and shortened landing gear for use in rough terrains. The prototype Strikemaster first flew in October 1967 and deliveries began as the Strikemaster Mk.80 to the first export customer, Saudi Arabia in late 1968, and many others followed concluding with Sudan in 1984 with the Mk.90.
In 1993 the Jet Provost finally ended its career, spanning over 35 years, with the Royal Air Force. It was replaced by the Shorts Tucano. A number of the surviving aeroplanes were retired and sold into private ownership. As a result, they can now be found across the globe, from the UK to the USA, Australia and New Zealand.
Known universally as the 'JP', the Jet Provost helped introduce the concept of all-jet basic training for pupil pilots in the RAF for the first time, and indeed in any air force around the world.

Launched in 1962, originally only as a Roadster, with the GT arriving in 1965, the B was constructed as a modern monocoque, as opposed to the body on frame construction of its predecessor the MG A., though components such as brakes and suspension were developments of the earlier 1955 MGA with its BMC B Series engine increased in capacity from the 1622cc of the final MGAs to 1798cc. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. and the MGB was one of the first cars to feature controlled crumple zones designed to protect the driver and passenger in a 30 mph (48 km/h) impact with an immovable barrier.
The Mk.II was introduced in 1967 with the Roadster now having the GT type rear axle, sycromesh was included as standard on all ratios and an Automatic Borg-Warner option was available, in addition to overdrive and Rostyle wheels
All Mark II cars have syncromesh on all gears and there was an Borg Warner Automatic transmission option. Rostyle wheels though the popular option was for wire wheel
From mid-1974 the chrome bumper was phased out, replaced to meet US impact regulations, instead of redesigning the cars nose, the bumpers were replaced by new, steel-reinforced black rubber front bumpers incorporating the grille area as well, giving a major restyling to the B's nose, and a matching rear bumper completed the change. The US regulations also meant that headlamps were now to low, so BMC took the cheap option of raising the cars suspension, this along with the heavier bumper, adversely affected handling. For the 1975 model year only, the front anti-roll bar was deleted as a cost-saving measure (though still available as an option). The damage done by the British Leyland response to US legislation was partially alleviated by revisions to the suspension geometry in 1977, when a rear anti-roll bar was made standard equipment on all models. US emissions regulations also reduced horsepower. .
In March 1979 British Leyland started the production of black painted limited edition MGB roadsters for the US market, meant for a total of 500 examples. Due to a high demand for the limited edition model, production ended with 6,682 examples. The UK received bronze-painted roadsters and a silver GT model limited edition. The production run of home market limited edition MGBs was split between 421 roadsters and 579 GTs.

Got out the point and shoot to find something for OhioFoothills' May challenge (ends today). This fly was one of the little critters I found this week. I thought the prayerful look was the most appropriate for Memorial Day weekend, and originally had the title "The Eyes Have It". Jim took one look, and wanted me to change the title to "Cheap Sunglasses". He had ZZ Top on his mind. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vR-9NQAPIA
It's been a gloriously cool weekend, and wishing all of you safe travels.

Many women deal with skin problems that are the major reasons behind their low confidence. Some of these problems are uneven skin tone, acne scars and dark circles around the eyes. Different products are available in the market for all customers to try. In fact, it is possible for you to purchase skin lightening innovations in different forms. These may appear in the form of pills, face masks or the common whitening cream. Skin bleaching products are cheaper than treatments offered in derma-aesthetic centers.
What can you do to your skin?
Changing bad habits can show big differences if you want to improve your skin. Note that your present lifestyle can also be the cause of skin imperfections. Drinking enough water can hydrate and moisturize the skin. Quitting smoking can alleviate dark spots. Adequate sleep relieves tired-looking eyes. Wearing sunblock can prevent skin darkening.
Observe your habits closely and determine those that affect your skin the most. These skin imperfections are reversible, and so are their causes. Recent signs of skin imperfections indicate a bad change to your habits. They must be overturned immediately especially if it’s a lack of sleep. This not only gives dark and heavy eyebags but also weakens the immune system.
Good sanitary habit is also a key. Avoid touching your hands with dirty fingers. Stay away from dusty places. Avoid foods that cause skin allergy and itchiness. These are good solutions, but they may not work for everyone. If all these fail, then skin products may be what you need.
What is Skin Bleaching?
Bleaching your skin explained
Skin bleaching is an effective way to even out your skin tone. It works by using chemicals to reduce the melanin in the skin. Melanin is the substance, which gives color and shade to our hair, eyes and skin. The color of the skin is determined by the presence of melanin. The more melanin your skin has, the darker your skin color will be. Skin whitening reduces the amount of melanin in the skin to make it lighter.
Precautions Before you Purchase
The greatest concerns regarding these products are their harsh ingredients. Strong chemicals are used in skin bleaching This should be done by an expert or with the advice of a professional. There are potential risks associated with it. These risks are sometimes not stated in the labels of the products you buy.
Mercury
Skin whitening products may have mercury. This can cause skin illnesses and worse complications. It is also a highly toxic chemical. It can cause neurologic and kidney problems. Worse cases can lead to mercury poisoning. Manufacturing companies can disguise mercury under many names. This is done so the product is sold easier. Its other names can be calomel or mercuric.
Hydroquinone
Another ingredient to watch out for is hydroquinone. This is an extensively strong ingredient. It is commonly present in skin lightening products all over the world. Prolonged and abusive use of this ingredient can cause premature aging. Hydroquinone stops melanin from being reproduced.
If you plan to use products with hydroquinone, then it is necessary to apply sunblock as well. This can protect the skin from being burned. Excessive use of this can cause untreatable skin conditions, such as ochronosis. Hydroquinone is actually recognized as one of the best skin lightening products in the market worldwide. This may be the reason why it is accessible to consumers everywhere.
When buying a skin lightening product, the hydroquinone content shouldn’t be more than 2%. It is best not to purchase products with no accurate information regarding its hydroquinone contents.
Steroids
Some options for bleaching skin cream in the market can also have steroids. Any miscalculation by the product’s manufacturer can cause skin infections. These include acne, blemishes and other skin problems. Anything applied unto the skin will eventually get absorbed into the body. These include creams and beauty products with steroids. Inappropriate use by the consumer can harm or irritate the skin.
Facts about skin bleaching
Bleaching Creams: Proper Use
Professionals will give you different instructions on how to bleach your skin. Procedures can also vary depending on the product. This is commonly based on the product’s potency. Instructions will also depend on the skin type and sensitivity. It may also differ on the body part you wish to bleach. Sensitive areas have thinner skin than the rest of the body. These include the face, neck and armpits. Greater care should be considered when bleaching these areas.
Harsh or strong chemicals can darken them easily. There are also special creams for these body parts while also providing other benefits. A face bleaching cream doesn’t only lighten skin but also moisturizes. This can make the skin look alive and younger. Underarm lightening creams also smoothen chicken skin and limit hair growth.
It’s best to follow prescriptions when buying skin lightening products for the first time. The directions given by dermatologists can’t always be correct. It is best to record your own observations as well. The skin’s reaction to new or certain products should also be noted. Consult the skin specialist about the product’s effects and ask if they are natural.
Some bleaching solutions like hydroquinone give the skin a fiery-red flush. This usually happens a few days before it exfoliates. Light exfoliation is commonly accompanied by a light stingy feeling. This is normal to almost any process involving your skin.
