The cheap way to see the Statue of Liberty and the New York Skyline is to take the Staten Island ferry. It's about an hour for the return trip and best of all it's free!

Taken from the bleachers at Fenway Park yesterday on Patriots Day. This is probably the farthest seat from home plate. I wandered all over the ballpark yesterday. There were a lot of open seats because of the bad weather. The Sox were lucky to get the game in between storms.
Almost all of my photos go through some post-production work in Photoshop or Photomatix (for HDRs). This particular shot is a three exposure HDR. After processing in Photomatix, I then played around a bit in Photoshop.
The effect that I used on this particular shot was achieved by following Heather Armstrong's directions on her blog, Dooce. Here are the instructions in her words:
“1. Open your photograph in Photoshop.
2. Color correct your photo layer however you like to color correct, perhaps a bit of contrast or color balance or selective color, whatever.
3. Duplicate the photo layer.
4. Use the filter “Gaussian Blur” on the duplicated layer. For a photo of this size, set the radius to 5 pixels. For much larger photos, you can go much higher with radius size.
5. Set the duplicated, blurred layer to “multiply” either through the pull-down at the top of the layers palette or by double-clicking the layer and setting the General Blending, Blend Mode.
6. The result will be a little dark and you can play around with curves or lightness or whatever technique you want to use to lighten the photo.
7. Extraordinary”

these pincushions are on sale now :)
I only have a handful that I had precut, and that I will complete, but after that, I'm not sure if I want to keep on making pincushions.
This image was shoot on location in Frome, Somerset and depicts Cheap Street covered by the recent snow.
Tricky conditions to photograph as the flurry of snow seemed to head in the direction of the front of the camera but it was good fun

Told you that businesses liked to offer special deals on a Tuesday, but I wouldn't like to be a shop assistant in this shop. Have to post this one early today as I am actually going to cheap Tuesday movie night tonight. Happy Cheap Tuesday all.

Oslo's abandoned station Valkyrie Plass is a great place to sleep when it's -20 outside and you refuse to pay the extortion like hostel costs. Of course it comes with other downsides like noise, rumbling and track workers but that's just part of the charm.
This photo is part of the set Crashing the Olso T-Bane.

We found this interesting roadside stall in the back streets of rural Toogoolawah when we finally got out for a country drive a few weeks ago. It attracted my attention for a few reasons - the pumpkin patch next door to the house is obviously going gang busters and the honesty box has the lovely Kent or Jap pumpkins for $3 or $4 when they were averaging about $3.49 per kilogram at the local supermarkets. An average pumpkin at those shops costs $12 upwards.
Australians eat a lot of pumpkins and I must admit I love them. Being a collector of letterbox photos just meant this one was icing on the cake.
The ironbark timber is going to burn nice and slow and hot too.
I asked him what brand of loafers they were. He said, "I don't know...let me see." Caught him as he removed his shoe.
These guys are always ready for some action...they are the best props for me...very cheap, sharp, and so versatile.I am always trying to find new ways to capture their beauty.Have a great day/night my friends :))
I wear glasses for reading and anything close-up, but sometimes forget them or just need something cheap and cheerful to take out with me. So I bought these cheap magnifiers a couple of years ago which I can just keep in a bag or pocket and not worry about.
And of all of my glasses, I think they're the ones tat look the best in girl-mode. I think when I get new real glasses I might go for frames like this.
What do you think?
