Chains on a swing set at Pollard Park, Tyler, Texas.

A lot of people ride scooters/motorbikes in South Korea. It is very common for people to order to-go food, which is delivered on these scooters. They are allowed to drive on the sidewalks, and almost anywhere else they please. It is common to see scooters weaving through traffic and running red lights.

State Listed as Threatened in Massachusetts

Patterns of peach and brown, set off by elongate white blazes, lend their subtle beauty to this moth. Chain fern borers live in wetland areas in the eastern US, and feed on the Virginia chain fern. After hatching from eggs in the springtime, larvae bore into and feed on the stems and roots of chain ferns. After pupating and emerging as fully-formed adults in late summer, the moths survive into the early months of October. Before perishing in the winter chill, they lay eggs for the cycle to begin again the following spring.

These moths are mainly threatened by draining and hydrologic alteration that disrupts the wetland environment they depend on. Invasive plants, pesticide spraying, and light pollution also challenge the survival of this nocturnal flyer. Moths occupy a critical role in our ecosystems as chief pollinators for some plant species. Indeed, insects and flowering plants have coevolved over millennia, each allowing for the survival of the other. Consciousness about light pollution, habitat destruction, and pesticide use has far-reaching impacts beyond any one moth species. There are over 200 land trust and more than 250 different environmental groups working for clean waterways in Massachusetts.

A gorgeous monkey, but sad to realize what his life is like. Whenever anyone came near him he became extremely agitated and went berserk swinging on a tiny chain, attempting to set himself free.

Chain-link sculpture complex atop Grangetown hill.

This is at the cliff over Williams Creek. The chains dangle over a sheer cliff--but nothing's attached!

A pair of rusty chains and shackles.

This chain is part of a machine now displayed as one of several similar sculptures that serve to remind us of the industrial past around the Port of Leith.

Through the process of observing the heavy machinery the toil of the workers emerged in the shapes formed by the chain-links.

Photo taken as Module 6 abstract machinery practice. An alternative version of this was submitted.
