So We Can Drive Around the Slippery Ground. Mountain roads are skippy, these chained tires did a great job although we can only travel at half of the speed limit.
We hit some snow packed roads in the mountains and were obliged to chain up. Luckily, Edwin lent us his fancy chains.
While it took longer to put on/take off than the two minutes we used them for, they were mighty helpful (and legally required). Thanks, Edwin!
Thursford Castle was a workhouse, then a hospital, and then a Civil Defense building. Most of it is now demolished, with just the chapel standing.

chain was just 18K km old but it was almost done. Noticed that around arctic circle, but continued to north with that chain. And replaced after 4000 km.

The Széchenyi Chain Bridge is a suspension bridge that spans the River Danube between Buda and Pest, the western and eastern sides of Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Designed by the English engineer William Tierney Clark, it was the first permanent bridge across the Danube in Budapest, and was opened in 1849.
It is anchored on the Pest side of the river to Széchenyi (formerly Roosevelt) Square, adjacent to the Gresham Palace and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and on the Buda side to Adam Clark Square, near the Zero Kilometer Stone and the lower end of the Castle Hill Funicular, leading to Buda Castle

Dinner was to be served in a few minutes. Gernot twirled his dashing moustache one last time. The ladies of the high-society would devotedly be hanging on every single word of his tales of all the fantastic prowls he had been on. Should one of them dare make a short-witted remark about the Swiss backside, he would take her along on his next prowl. His mother-in-law Lora – the charming lady, flanked by two polar bears– has very much enjoyed it herself at the time.
