After an enjoyable day trip to Vienna, it was back to Budapest on the Monday. We decided to explore the Buda side of the River Danube, and to get there we had to cross the Chain Bridge. Sculpted by János Marschalkó, the lions famously "lack tongues," a myth stemming from a story that the sculptor was so upset by the criticism at the opening he jumped in the river (he didn't, and the tongues are just hidden)!

In between the lions you can see St Matthias Church and the Fisherman's Bastion over in Buda - we were to visit them later in the day.

According to my local guide, this Alley in Victoria has historical significance in that prison inmates were walked through here to be hung out in the courtyard just beyond. Not sure who the spooky Canucks fan is at the end of the tunnel :P

Had a fun walk along Alligator Alley with a photographer friend, recently. I didn't come out with much worth sharing beside thing one.

I found this poor little bird chained next to a shop probably to attract the attention of bypassing tourists- which worked pretty well I must say. He seemed completely disturbed and behaved quite abnormal constantly twitching and jumping around. No wonder: can't be the best life he's living chained to that small pole.
