Freeway with a 4,500 m3 capacity is owned and operated by one of the world's largest international dredging and marine contractors.
Hopper dredgers are used for the excavation and transportation of materials such as sand, gravel and silt. They can be found operating around the world, on projects including harbour construction, channel maintenance, coastal protection, beach re-nourishment and land reclamation.
The dredging system typically consists of the trailing suction installation for excavation and slurry creation, dredge pumps for hydraulic transportation, a hopper for storing soil during transportation, discharge installations for unloading the slurry, dredge line components that connect the complete system, and automation systems for controlling and monitoring of the dredging process.

Una nuova tappa del Laboratorio sulle politiche per la Smart Specialization, percorso partecipato che la Regione Puglia sta sviluppando insieme a FormezPA con il progetto Capacity Sud (Linea A.2 Progettare - PON GAS- Asse E).
L’incontro, organizzato in collaborazione con Innova Puglia, è inserito all’interno degli eventi della 5a edizione della Fiera dell’Innovazione, organizzata dall’Area Valorizzazione Ricerca dell’Università del Salento, in collaborazione con il Comune di Lecce e finanziata da Regione Puglia.
La giornata ha l’obiettivo di aprire un confronto sui bisogni prioritari dei territori sui temi legati alle modalità di riconoscimento delle specificità della nostra regione e su come tradurre l’idea condivisa di “smart cities e communities” in azioni concrete ed elementi cantierabili.
Ciò avviene attraverso una modalità di interazione innovativa di carattere laboratoriale, con keynote che offrono suggestioni sul tema, in cui studenti universitari, sindaci e amministratori delle Città, imprese e attori del territorio incrociano i loro punti di vista sulla visione e sulle nuove opportunità per disegnare il futuro delle smart cities and communities.
These photos were sent in a series of small envelopes to Alex Crawford, in his capacity as MRA Reunion Organiser c/o Shap Wells Hotel, all within a A5 M&S brown envelope with no covering letter in July 2002. The main clue as to their origin is that one of the smaller envelopes clearly has LAC Ron Parmenter St Athan MRT written on it, Ron had died in 2002 and it is surmised that Ron’s NOK were forwarding them to the best address they could determine. Another of the envelopes is marked RAF St. Athan MRT. Ron served in the RAF Madeley MRT and then moved with the team to RAF St. Athan in 1947. Most of the photographs are small, some only an inch square so in scanning them there has been some loss of quality. The 6 B&W negatives in the envelope marked LAC Ron Parmenter St Athan MRT were kindly converted into high quality digital images by FS Graham Sharp NCO i/c photo section at RAF Marham to whom we are most grateful. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) selected International Relief and Development (IRD)’s Community Outreach and Capacity Building (COCB) Model to be highlighted at their Local Capacity Development Summit on June 18, 2012.
Key to IRD’s success in working in unstable conflict and disaster environments is the use of the COCB service model. IRD has learned that improvement in one sector without gains in the others does not generally lead to long-term growth and improved overall capacity. The COCB approach ensures successful project delivery by addressing the capacity needs of all core players, including the government and public sector, the private sector, and beneficiary communities.

Building capacity to increasing the legitimacy of CSOs: a view across the spectrum of self-regulation and accountability

Summary: If civil society organisations are to be truly effective as a voice for citizens around the world, they need to work hard on standards for continuous improvement of their own governance, as a way to better respond to expectations from citizens, funders, volunteers, staff, and other stakeholders who are increasingly expecting demonstrations of good governance and better impact. CSO self-regulation mechanisms are therefore required, but these need to be by and for civil society rather than be imposed by funders or governments.
The three presenters will convey the varying expectations and challenges faced in their three different countries and regions when CSOs decide to embrace self-regulation, and the implication of this in their work with governments at different levels, mass media, social networks, international cooperation agencies and other relevant actors. Imagine Canada will present its newly launched programme of rigorous peer review, which aims at helping CSOs to improve their practice in the areas of board governance, financial transparency and accountability, fundraising, staff management and volunteer involvement, while responding to the new expectations of society. The Latin American network Rendir Cuentas will present a regional perspective on these issuess.
