Since the beginning of the HOME Program, the State of Vermont’s CHDO capacity building efforts have been extraordinary. Under the leadership of the State and the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board, the entity selected by the State to administer its HOME Program, the CHDO network has grown from two nonprofits covering three counties to 10 CHDOs and several nonprofits covering the entire state. In the last ten years, the CHDOs have been responsible for the development of nearly 3,000 units of affordable housing, of which 1,000 are HOME units. More than half of the HOME-assisted projects have been developed in communities as small as 1,000 people, yet projects have also been undertaken in exclusive resort communities like Manchester and Vermont’s largest city, Burlington. These projects have cleaned up brownfield sites, revitalized neighborhoods, and served people with extremely low incomes and disabilities. CHDOs play a vital role in executing the State’s major housing-related goals as articulated in its Consolidated Plan: (1) providing decent housing, and (2) providing a suitable living environment. The plan for increased CHDO capacity occurred in three stages: creating and expanding the capacity of CHDOs to develop affordable housing; expanding the asset management capacity of CHDOs and other nonprofits; and expanding the capacity to manage high energy prices. The major activities for implementing this plan included outreach, financial support and incentives, training and targeted technical assistance, monitoring and evaluation, and troubleshooting and project workouts when necessary. This strategy for increasing CHDO capacity, coupled with the commitment to provide permanent affordability and serve the most vulnerable of populations, has resulted in affordable housing in every county of the State.
The Jamaica Capacity Improvements project has been replacing infrastructure and adding new connections over a period of many years, without blowing up service.
Our current project is easing the burden on the Hall Interlocking, which controls 10 of the LIRR’s 11 branches, by building a 300-foot, two-track bridge over 150th Street in Jamaica.

1941 FORD (CANADA) C11AS – STATION WAGON
Technical details –
▪︎Engine: Ford V8 – 30hp 3662cc L-head (side-valve), water-cooled petrol engine.
▪︎Gearbox: 3 forward – 1 reverse.
▪︎Brakes: Hydraulic on all four wheels, with mechanical hand brake on rearwheels.
▪︎Electrics: 6 volt.
▪︎Fuel capacity: 12 gallons.
▪︎Range: Operating range of 170 miles.

PURPOSE – With Canada entering the war in 1939 the Ford Car Plant in Windsor Ontario switched its total production to the war effort utilising the 1941 Model 11A chassis, running gear and seven-seater station wagon body. The C11AS (''S'' - special), official Canadian military designation SW424-C-7-WAG-1, was produced in very limited numbers under both Canadian and British military contract specifications. These incorporated a number of changes from its civilian counterpart including uprated bumpers and cutaway front wings, Fabrikoid upholstery, fitments such as blackout curtains, internal lights, rifle clips, map case, first aid kit, fire extinguisher and ignition shielding for radio interference suppression. Although intended for use as a Field Staff Car it often underwent further ''field modification'' by its respective units with external fitments for additional equipment, such as fuel and water and further internal changes for specific roles. A five-seater ''heavy'' version, designated C11ADF was also manufactured on the ¾ ton truck chassis with semi-elliptic leaf springs and open drive shaft with 9.00X13 tyres which made it more suitable for rough terrain use.
HISTORY – Unfortunately no history is known until its release and issue with the Middlesex registration of TMH 34 in June 1948. First owners were Messrs. Delaney Gallay Ltd, Vulcan Works, Edgeware Road, Cricklewood who developed radiators and oil coolers for both the automotive and military market. In January 1950 it was sold to a Mrs. Prior of Okehampton Devon and in 1953 purchased by the Loch Duich Hotel, Ardelvie, Ross-Shire, Scotland were it was used to transfer guests to and from the railway station plus trips across the Isle of Skye. In 1956 M. Murchinson & Sons ''The Garage'' at nearby Kyle of Lochalsh purchased the vehicle and used it as a local taxi. In 1980 John Milton of Pontypridd, South Wales bought the vehicle from the garage in a poorly condition and missing the rear axle. Carrying out both mechanical and cosmetic work it was returned to a running condition, albeit the incorrect rear axle. In 1982 Peter Sayer of Stockton, Norfolk purchased the vehicle and over his years of ownership fitted the correct transmission plus carried out further extensive mechanical and cosmetic changes. Due to ill health the vehicle was not used for several years and purchased by the present owner in early 2015. Following a complete refurbishment and return to its original specification additional features were added to depict a Headquarters signals vehicle of the 1st. Canadian Independent Armoured Brigade who were originally based in South-East England landing in Italy in September 1943 and later serving in North-west Europe.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) selected International Relief and Development (IRD)’s Community Outreach and Capacity Building (COCB) Model to be highlighted at their Local Capacity Development Summit on June 18, 2012.
Key to IRD’s success in working in unstable conflict and disaster environments is the use of the COCB service model. IRD has learned that improvement in one sector without gains in the others does not generally lead to long-term growth and improved overall capacity. The COCB approach ensures successful project delivery by addressing the capacity needs of all core players, including the government and public sector, the private sector, and beneficiary communities.

(Consider, for example, that humankind was already inflicting worldwide biospheric impacts by 1987 with a world population of five billion and in 1999 with a world population of six billion - less than half of whom were industrialized. And now we have reached SEVEN billion and are headed, under U.N. medium-fertility trajectories, toward 10.1 billion by 2100, and the U.N.'s high-fertility estimates show us headed toward 15.8 billion by century's end.)
Note that it is an INCOMPLETE assessment to assume that earth's carrying capacity for humanity is governed solely by intuitively-obvious factors such as supplies of food, water, oil, and similar "running-out-of" suppositions. Equally powerful (and potentially dangerous) limiting factors that could affect us simultaneously or even first include: (1) Our production and release of ongoing, non-stop (and increasing) daily worldwide avalanches of societal and industrial WASTES, as well as (2) Our sheer levels of physical ERADICATION of, damage to, and degradation of the ONLY planetary life-support machinery so far known to exist anywhere in the universe.

Madam Humaira Hashmi ( Director Operations NCHD Sindh ) provided detailed presentation about NCHD Programs i.e. UPE, Literacy, BBSYDP Projects and also about MALALA and OWN School initiatives. It also includes the detailed briefing of NCHD’s national and provincial achievements. The achievements and efforts were widely appreciated by the Participants.
Dr. Iqbal Muhammad Choudry Director HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry Karachi University highlighted the importance of education and appreciated the role of NCHD in bridging the gap between strategy formulation and strategy execution to enhance Literacy rate and Universal Primary Education (UPE) with a view to fulfilling Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). He further ensured his volunteer support in teachers’ training and development for the provision of intellectual volunteers for the training of teachers all across the board. He further said that socio-economic development of Brazil, South Korea and Malaysia is largely attributed to effective education systems. In addition to that he urged government to increase budget allocation for the education sector.
Anees Ur Rehman Chairman Fund Raising Committee Rotery Club explained the role of private sector for enhancement of education. He said that Rotery club is already working for improvements in education. He affirmed his support to NCHD and also ensured that they would also undertake filed visits in collaboration with NCHD aiming at enhancement of School initiatives.
Pervaiz Lodhie Member PHDF provided detailed information regarding background of PHDF its working style and the current role. He also explained the collaboration of PHDF with NCHD & Govt of Pakistan. He also conducted interactive session with the participants about the models of UPE and Literacy. He also discussed about the use of technology to improve the education and teacher’s training.
All DGMs shared the achievements of their respective districts in the UPE and Literacy and also provided feedback to further improve the execution of strategies at the district level.
Prevez Lodhi sb appreciated the work, efforts and achievement of NCHD and focused on proper showcasing of NCHD work to share with the national and international donor community to attract them to support education through NCHD. He suggested all DGMs of NCHD to share success story reports & documentaries of schools/ literacy centers on social groups.
He further shared that his meeting with Baligh ur Rehman (Minister for Professional Education and Technical Training) has been fixed in which he will discuss about NCHD.
