Part of North Beach bordering on the Little Italy part....best Italian eateries and wine bars in this hood.
We had Trader Joe's Pizza dough here at the house, so we decided to make Calzone. Used the filling we use for our Lasagne rollups: Ricotta cheese, Mozzarella cheese, Egg. We allowed the dough to warm to room temperature. Rolled it out to a square, spread the filling on half of the dough, and then folded it over. Oiled a baking sheet with some olive oil. Placed it on the baking tray and sprinkled Italian seasoning on top with some olive oil. Baked it at 450 degrees for about 10mins. Sprinkled some Grated Parmesan cheese on top and cut it up into six squares.

O.K. so Walmart own ASDA but is this a step too far?
With no labeling to speak of, and without a price marked on the display (it costs £2.70 BTW) but they make sure we know 'who' it's from .. or do we?
Yay, I suck at photo editing! This was my effort to bring out the meail and hide the background. It does a good job of that but entirely lacks the subtlety necessary to make it look good. I mean, look at that ring! I need more practice...
Saturday had me stopping into Gambino's Pizza at 72nd and Giles to eat before the rest of the evening. I ordered a calzone (obviously), which I feel is probably the best thing on their menu, had it filled with chicken and cheese and set away on it. Indeed, it was quite good, but the guy at the counter charged me for a drink when I asked for water. Life certainly was easier on the wait staffs when I drank soda with every meal.
Becky and I attended the performance of Mame, starring our friend Karen Freimund Wills (KFW) and Sandy Van Pelt at the Lincoln Community Playhouse tonight, 5/10/2019. After the show, we were invited to join KFW, Sandy and the rest of the cast and crew for their night out at Old Chicago. Great meal with some great people! Here was my calzone.
Handmade calzones did not taste as good, weird!
