Why is it that what is *crystal clear* to me

is *clearly cloudy* to others?

"Every particular in nature,

a leaf, a drop, a crystal, a moment of time

is related to the whole,

and partakes of the perfection

of the whole."

~Ralph Waldo Emerson~

When it rains pictures are amazing.

(ohh, how I wish I could be by the sea, on a beautifully sunny day like this one was, again right now ;_;)

watching sunlight refract through water has always been a favourite, simple pleasure of mine (always drawn to the water), and it was so nice to get to see it so often while I was visiting one of my dearest friends a couple of years ago ♥

En el mismo mar

Unos nadan en abundancia

Y otros mueren en la miseria

Tratando de rozar con los dedos

La tierra de los privilegiados

Que tuvieron la suerte de nacer

En el lado bueno del mundo...

One moment there was wind with ripples on the water masking all reflections and the other moment when everything was calm serene with nature's spectacular display of light shadow and fall colors.

It was a show not to be missed and I was glad I made the 5 hour drive from home starting at midnight to make it here for the sunrise.

I had not expected such a display of fall colors here in California, but now that I have visited the Eastern Sierras, I'm mad at myself for having missed this serene beauty for the past 2 years.

I was a busy photographer this weekend and there were 100's like me there. Stay tuned for some more fall colors :)

the small lake next to the Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele II is a great place to soak tired feet, and also to soak in the view of Ciarforon (3642m) and Becca di Monciair (3544m)

3rd time lucky ! Tried a couple of times to get this in the past but the crypt floor wasn't nearly flooded enough. An unusually wet winter has made for a very high water table and produced perfect conditions of about 12 inches of crystal clear chalk filtered water.

What a wonderful night above Angelus Hut and Lake at Nelson Lakes National park (1650m). The sky cleared up and the wind got so calm, the surface was like a mirror. Very thankful for the luck I had!

Moraine Lake, Banff National Park, Canada

That’s why I wanted to go up here. What you see here is the mountain lake of Partnun, also called Partnunsee (1’869 meters). A crystal clear and idyllic mountain lake. On this day, this lake really showed his dreamy side.

After an adventurous and funny walk with our dog Giorgio I have achieved my goal of this little walk. Do you remember? The rabbit, Giorgio the rocket behind the rabbit, and finally me …. behind Giorgio with a subsequent landing in a swamp, then our smell of Chanel No. 5 and my shoes that made music (see my last 3 photos). Finally Giorgio could have his bath in the lake and I could change my wet socks.

This lake has a length of approximately 450 meters and is about 35 meters deep. So the perfect size for a wonderful afternoon with a fire, sausages and a wonderful view. I hope you like it :-)

I want to thank all very much for your "views", "Comments" and "Favourites" :-) The only thing that matters is that you have joy in this photo. Again, thank you :-)

This National Park -an UNESCO World Heritage Site- is world famous for its lakes arranged in cascades. Currently, 16 lakes can be seen from the surface. These lakes are a result of the confluence of several small rivers and subterranean karst rivers. The lakes are all interconnected and follow the water flow. They are separated by natural dams of travertine, which is deposited by the action of moss, algae, and bacteria. The particularly sensitive travertine barriers are the result of an interplay between water, air and plants. The encrusted plants and bacteria accumulate on top of each other, forming travertine barriers which grow at the rate of about 1 cm per year.

The sixteen lakes are separated into an upper and lower cluster formed by runoff from the mountains, descending from an altitude of 636 to 503 m (2,087 to 1,650 ft) over a distance of some eight km, aligned in a south-north direction. The lakes collectively cover an area of about two square kilometers, with the water exiting from the lowest lake forming the Korana River.

The lakes are renowned for their distinctive colors, ranging from azure to green, grey or blue. The colors change constantly depending on the quantity of minerals or organisms in the water and the angle of sunlight.

Through different climatic influences and the large difference in elevation within the protected area, a multifaceted flora and fauna has been created. The national park area is home to many endemic species. Those species that prevailed at the lakes before the arrival of man still exist.

Morning Reflection shot at Chandrataal - The lake of Moon, Himalayas, India

The Bogey Hole is to the south of Newcastle Beach, and truly is a terrific spot to swim a few laps, or just cool down in the summer.

On my way down to the bogey hole, I had to take this photo, of the beautiful sky, crystal clear water with blue and aqua hues, and a lovely shadow being cast right in front of me by the timber fence and long coastal walk.

Alligator Reef is what they call this light house. Its about a mile off of HWY 1 on the keys....and was named after a US Naval ship in 1820 sumtin that was getting rid of pirates!

This water is literally crystal clear and to get this shot, I needed help with the sun behind my back....and a still boat. The water here is about 8 ft in depth and its nice and warm, even in winter. The other reef we stopped at was 25' deep!

This location was more fun to swim in. The shallow reef had a few local inhabitants...one of which gave me a kiss on the chin ...jelly fish love!

It's mid-spring on Cape Cod, and today is an early gift of a beach day. The temperatures are perfect, there is barely any wind, and the crowds have not yet arrived. At the right tide, with bright mid-day overhead light, our Northside beaches take on a Caribbean look. The color though is special... its slightly different than a tropical beach, and that makes it our own.

The crystal clear waters at Lower Diabeg on Loch Torridon.

More Highland Scotland here

This is a little inlet where the road connects to the jetty which conveys locals to their houses on the lake.

The water was crystal clear but I wasn’t at all sure what I was seeing.

Apparently this is a Banded Water Snake, and it is perhaps eating a frog…. I really don’t know, but I am very grateful that it is unusual to encounter this slithering off the dam into the water. I guarantee if it had come my way, I would have remembered how to run.

oh for those empty hollow days!

Must see beach in Sardina. Crystal clear water, very shallow and an impressive tower

One afternoon a few weeks back I decided to take a little drive down to Cottesloe Beach (Perth, Western Australia) to take some photographs. The clouds in the sky looked quite appealing from home, and luckily they stuck around just long enough for me to get down to the beach and take a few quick snaps.

I love the leading lines in this photograph.

A lovely clear day in desert land it can be very windy and often extremely hot but for a few months snowbirds and tourists make there way to get winter relief. This was taken inside the retirement community of Sun City PD.
