Off the point of any island on this lake, the kayaker will usually find shallow water and good rock formations. It would be unusual for an island to rise abruptly out of the water, with steep sides - although cliffs are common along the shoreline of the lake itself.
Best summer we had since we set foot on the British isles, no doubt about it! Last weekend we spent two days in a row at the seaside once again. On Sunday we drove down south to visit Hope Cove. We never explored the Devon coast that far south and were delighted! Getting there was an adventure - featuring the most daring single track road devoid of passing places.
Hope Cove is a small seaside village and offers two beaches - we chose the one that also acts as a small harbour. I read that Hope Cove had a reputation for smuggling and for plundering wrecked ships - quite the pirate cove! The photo shows the view from the little pier towards the sea. Crystal clear water, rock pools to explore, sunbathing, ice cream, sand castles....we had so much fun!! No vitamin D supplements necessary at the moment :-D
The sun was setting when we were driving back home and we happened to be around Emerald Bay in South Lake Tahoe, California. It was dramatic lighting and people were pulling over just about anywhere they can park to shoot the fast moving light. Quite amazing how many cars would fit inside those short turn-offs along State Route 89. This picture was taken from Emerald Bay Vista, the last parking lot along Emerald Bay Park. And just a few moments later, sunlight was gone on Emerald Bay.

Study of Light #2
Title Bending light when it passes through water. Why does it bend? Better ask a bloke called Snell (or Willebrord Snellius as he's know by amongst his mates), because it was his idea, and now it's become a law!
Image: An underwater shot of the very-bright sunlight coming through the tree-canopy as it illuminates the bottom of a pool. The water was crystal-clear, and the bend of the rays can be seen here... or that might be wide-angle lens distortion maybe?!
The Sheepwash Bridge, which dates from the 17th century, is a packhorse bridge with an attached stone sheepwash: lambs were placed in the pen on one side of the river and the ewes swam across the river to get to them, while being pushed underwater by the shepherds to clean the fleece before shearing. Large trout inhabit the waters of the Wye around the bridge. It is a Scheduled Monument as well as a listed building. Ashford-in-the-Water is a village in the Derbyshire Peak District, England. The village is on the River Wye. It is known for the quarrying of Ashford Black Marble (a form of limestone), and for the maidens' garlands made to mark the deaths of virgins in the village until 1801
In the Domesday Book, Ashford was described as one of the locations in the area where lead was refined.[6]
In 1786, Ashford had mills for carving and polishing the local black marble. By 1848, it had 950 inhabitants.[7]
The village passed to the Cavendish family in the 16th century (from the Nevilles) and was finally sold off in the 1950s to pay death duties.

As the baby capricorn tentatively stepped into the forest, it was greeted by a breathtakingly beautiful scenery. The trees towered above it, their leaves rustling gently in the breeze. Shafts of sunlight filtered through the canopy, dappling the forest floor with patches of warm, golden light. The air was filled with the sweet fragrance of wildflowers and the chirping of birds.
Ever since I discovered this little spring-fed pool a few years ago, I've wanted to shoot it because of the old stumps that sit in a ring around it. I particularly like the tilt of these two.

Stanley Lake is an alpine lake in Custer County, Idaho, United States, located at the base of the Sawtooth Mountains in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area.
This is actually a second image of the same photo (it was slightly edited)

Another shot from our Zion trip, this one from the Virgin Narrows. This was the point of the narrows where we turned around as the rain was getting harder and the current, little tougher to negotiate. Needless to say the 2 mile walk back was more harder than what we all imagined.
Thanks for visiting my stream.
This image is from a late summer trip to Lake Tahoe in 2010. We drove up the night before to Reno so we could shoot the Great Reno Balloon Race early the following morning. After we have done that, we decided to drive down to Lake Tahoe and without any plans or agenda, we shot what we saw along the way. We stopped at a place called Memorial Point along Nevada State Route 28 to use the restroom but we ended up staying longer so we could explore the rocky shoreline.
Now I know why some call this lake Tahoe Blue.

The tranquil fishing village of Rodney, or Oqaatsut, in Greenland showcases vibrant houses nestled against rugged rocks, with crystal-clear waters shimmering in the sunlight.
With 29 inhabitants in 2020, the tranquility is absolute. There is no running water or roads, only sky, sea and ice. Another planet.
This waterfall is well know in Dalat area. It was not touristy at all, which surprised me a lot - probably because it is a bit further away from the main attractions. So worth the journey, tough!
During my brief visit to Glen Nevis last week I took some detail shots of the lower falls on the Allt Coire Eòghainn. The water had a purity to it that made it appear 'whiter' than usual and I assume that is due to it being mainly snow melt rather than rainfall.
