Atlantic Puffin (Fratercula arctica) returning to Staple Island. Photographed at Staple Island, Outer Farne Islands, UK. Staple Island is a very special place and it is one of my favorite places to bird and photograph birds. According to Wikipedia, Saint Cuthbert enacted laws in 676 AD to protect nesting seabirds on the Farne Islands, making the the Farne Islands one the oldest (if not the oldest) bird sanctuaries in the world. Today, Staple Island is managed by the National Trust.

I knew the UP9665 [exCNW 8601] was coming on a manifest, so I headed up HWY31 to cut it off. After nabbing it on the Blair bridge, I headed just west of town. It's been awhile since I used my superwide, and I thought the windmill, the skies, and this curve would provide a good opportunity for it.
NoLA Rising is making the donation today of several works of art created at the Paint Party on March 8th to Rebuilding Together New Orleans. The mission of Rebuilding Together is to preserve and revitalize houses and communities, assuring that low-income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly and disabled, can live in warmth, safety, and independence.
It is in the spirit of NoLA Rising to help make a house a home through artwork donated by the coming together of the arts community. The Preservation Resource Center has helped many people through Rebuilding Together and this is NoLA Rising's way to say thank you to them and welcome home to the people they have helped.
The second run at the obstacle course proved to be more difficult than the morning runs. Points were obtained by doing an obstacle, but deducted for leaving the course or reversing. Attempting more than 4 times or asking for a tow by the tractor resulted in a DNF.

I wanted a vampire.
I was sure I wanted a mistic baby in ws. But I had a bit of trouble choosing between Lea and Miel. Then decided for her. She's my favourite mold.
I took also the open eyes head. Maybe I'll keep it or not.

The hawthorn is just coming out in flower in Kent. Late this year as it is usually out by the mid April locally despite it's other common name being May. The flowers look so beautiful close up so I snapped this with my mobile phone.
The Fleishhacker pool and pool house were built in 1924 by philanthropist Herbert Fleishhacker. The pool was the largest swimming pool in the United States. The pool held 6 million gallons of water and could accomodate 10,000 swimmers. The pool was closed in 1971 with the pool itself being paved over by the San Francisco Zoo for a new parking lot. The pool house which was used by bathers at the pool remains on its original site today in ruins.
