As soldiers and marines perish in Iraq, headlines and funerals mark their passage. Never Coming Home details a deeply personal and public bereavement, and shows a portrait of grief and sacrifice of families with a hole in their lives, nothing but memory where once there was a living son and brother.

Our flight home took us from Alghero Airport in northwest Sardinia past the west coast of Corsica and over France and southern Britain to Dublin. I got a window seat on the right hand side in the hope of getting some aerial shots of Corsica but due to a late departure , it was too dark to get anything useful. However, once we were at altitude we stayed in the sunset all the way to Dublin – I guess our northwesterly flight track took us towards the sun and towards longer day length and that meant we were able to keep up with the sun. Shooting through the average thick and scratched airplane window gives lots of dud but I liked this one.

A Fleet Week Saturday aboard the USS Nimitz.
The day began at San Francisco Airport, where I boarded a US Navy C-2 transport plane at sunrise for a flight out to the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, which was cruising 50 miles off the California Coast. After landing on the flight deck, we disembarked for a tour while the ship sailed toward San Francisco to participate in the Fleet Week "Parade of Ships." Upon clearing the Golden Gate Bridge, the Nimitz launched three F-18s from the flight deck as we cruised past Fisherman's Wharf. From there we continued onward, under the Bay Bridge to an anchorage in the middle of the San Francisco Bay, just off South Beach. And then I had to go home.
It was a very remarkable day. Many thanks to the US Navy for extending the invitation, and the kind sailors who showed us around their ship!

It’s funny, Mars looks so much bigger in movies.
From a hillside N. of Belmont, NE we spy BNSF coal loads and empties coming and going on this gorgeous 8-24-2008 day. Within ten minutes of the passing of these two trains, the wind blowing through the pine trees and the chirping of the birds was all that could be heard.
This picture was really hard to scan, but I tried my best. It shows the coming soon sign for the Country Bears at Disneyland.

A four car CountryLink Xplorer unit, led by EC 2522, climbs upgrade and approaches the junction station of Werris Creek with the Sydney bound 'Armidale Xplorer' service on 28.01.2011.
Dotted around Pleasanton's Downtown are a number of life-size brass statues of people going around their daily lives, so we took a little walk to track them down. They're rather cool and are attracting a lot of curious observers!
The title of the picture is from the name of the statue.

When i look to this photo now, i really don't like it. I like the idea but i don't like my post producion work. I think that one day, when i will have time, i will try to fix it. But for now i will leave it like this.
//I had this idea in my head for quite a while now and i decided to realize it today. It's very cloudy, so i didn't have to wait to sun go down to get that light that i like to shoot in, so when i came home i went straight to this place and start to shoot. I have to thank my mother, who helped my with this shoot. It was a little tricky, because the wind was very annoying, and it tried to take my umbrella:).//
