The Tidal Basin looking toward the Jefferson Memorial with a Presidential Sikorsky VH-3 Sea King Helicopter from the Marine One Helicopter Squadron 1 (HMX-1) coming in low over the Basin. Helicopters flying over the D.C. Metro Area are a common sight, but it's a awesome to see them rumble over the area surrounding the Tidal Basin at low altitudes at all times of the year; Washington D.C. [DSC_3877]
This is one of several vantages coming back from the hike to Lake Solitude, heading toward the Cascade Canyon. It was by far one of my favorite hikes I've ever taken. Not too far from here I came across a ~400lb black bear on the trail. That's always fun when you're alone & 9+ mi from the trailhead. You can even make out the forest fire from the other side of the mountain range pouring into the canyon.
This panoramic is merged from 4 hdr's that were each 5 shots @ 1ev, handheld as I was too lazy to carry my tripod on an 18.5 mi hike. Crunched in Photomatix Pro 4 & CS3.
An unplanned shot, whilst on the way to Sunbury.
I had pulled off the main road to capture VL45 and VL67 seen here.

Coming back from dinner on a different night, we happened to catch the sun setting. Taken over at Crissy Field near the Marina.

Fine sand and smaller gravel succumb to gravity as wind and sea continually carve away at the base of the cliffs. Part of the constantly changing face of the National Seashore.

Here is an old shot from the J.W Marriott poolside/dining area where we were playing a convention last year. It's funny how year after year things are constantly changing, especially in my line of work. I'm doing less Disney stuff and more songwriting and producing again. It's a bit unnerving at times but I manage to push forward and new opportunities always seem to arise. Today was one of those days that reminding me of those times of change . . . I just completed a music project that I've been working on for the past year or so and it just felt awesome!
I hope you guys had a great Monday. Maybe I'll have some new pictures this week . . . Oh and I'm also excited for my new iPhone 4S! I've been a blackberry user for nearly the past 10 years, so this was a huge change for me.
An adult Bicknell's Thrush coming in with food for its young at the top of Whiteface Mountain in the Adirondacks. We saw the baby thrush but I don't think any of us were able to capture a photo of it. I learned that the Bicknell's Thrush is not monogamous and shares the parenting responsibilities with the other adults.
