Teaser shot of my new 'Tina' skin :), coming soon as a rare prize for SaNaRae gacha
Greatly inspired by Red Velvet's 'One Of These Nights'
After a break of several months, there will be new photos again. Why a break? I was in such a creative slump and the question of meaning, that I didn't like anything anymore. If I had continued to edit images, I would have deleted entire folders from the hard drive.
Not much has actually changed. The hope that a complete break from photography would benefit me has not been fulfilled. But: all the old pictures on the hard drive need to be edited. Maybe as far as this is concerned I can make a few steps further.

During Photoshop World 2019 there was an optional excursion to the ghost town of Nelson, Nevada for light painting lead by Dave Black. It was fun and informative but way too short!
A young (I want to say 3rd calendar year?) White-eyed gull that stalled in the air in an attempt to identify possible prey. If I recall there wasn't anything there this time, but there has reliably been a large number of schooling fish in the area, the prize for most of the terns and gulls in the area.

She is starting to change more every day. Looking more like an adult female cardinal. Her color is coming in nicely and the dark is leaving her beak. Right now she is at the birdbath peering at me inside the window. Trying to decide if she should be alarmed or not.

Thursday, the second week after vacation and I still don’t know if I’m coming or going. Sometimes life is just a blur!
What’s that Jimmy Buffet line “Takin’ polaroid pictures that are never in focus
Just to look at when they finally slow down”
Well these aren’t Polaroids but y’all get the idea.

This past Saturday night we were blessed with a full onslaught monsoon evening. Phoenix was surrounded by storms showing up in pink on the radar screen. Although there was no epic haboob like earlier, there was lightning. Lots of it.
I chose to head east towards the towns of Apache Junction and Florence. My drive out consisted of pouring rain followed by isolated pockets of dryness. I was hoping once I made it to my destination I would be in a dry area. No such luck in the beginning. I set up in a light drizzle and began snapping brackets. Fortunately the heavy rain never came. It was bad enough with the wind and the drizzle that I actually started getting a chill. Once the show stopped I packed up and headed for home.
Along the way I noticed more activity to the north so I pulled over to see if I could get any bonus shots. The image above was from that session. When I caught it my first reaction was “sweet”, quickly followed by “holy crap that was close”. The lightning literally exploded out of the air behind the clouds you see in the pic. At that point I assessed my situation, standing on a dark desert highway (yes there was a cool breeze in my hair you Eagles fans) shooting pictures of lightning that seemed to be coming right at me. Ahh good times.
I’m still learning the ins and outs of this storm chasing, but it is fun. More fun when you come home with some shots. I’m looking forward to more chasing with buddies Mike Olbinski and Scott Wood. Both of these guys are storm chasing gurus who I plan to learn even more from.
Until next time…

On the platform a giant concrete egg is a metaphor for a world that is constantly evolving and expanding. The sculpture 'Coming World' shows an egg that is on the point of hatching, as a precursor to the birth of a new mankind. Around this work you can find the small sculptures, made by the children in all the different workshops.
The statues fan out around the platform as a massive human shield in the zone of the no man’s land. They form a symbolical boundary on the site where hundred years ago inhumane suffering took place and this for four years long.

COMBOIO DESCENDENTE
No comboio descendente
Vinha tudo à gargalhada.
Uns por verem rir os outros
E outros sem ser por nada
No comboio descendente
De Queluz à Cruz Quebrada...
No comboio descendente
Vinham todos à janela
Uns calados para os outros
E outros a dar-lhes trela
No comboio descendente
De Cruz Quebrada a Palmela...
No comboio descendente
Mas que grande reinação!
Uns dormindo, outros com sono,
E outros nem sim nem não
No comboio descendente
De Palmela a Portimão

Two trains pass on Steelton Hill on December 1, 2015. Our first snow of the 2016-17 season is expected later this week, although the Ports are expected to miss the heavy stuff, which will fall on the Range.
Coming of Age
It’s a roll of the dice heading out with a partly cloudy weather forecast, because I always prefer clouds to a cloudless sky, but then you never know if it’s going to be too “partly”. Today is mostly too partly, but from time to time a sweeping wave of light rolls over the ridges. You can watch its progress as skylights open and then close to pinch off the momentary brilliance. The flanks of mountains on the east side of the lake brighten in unison with my own, the shine catching surfaces all around me for a precious few before moving on. I wonder if the canopy has an instant photosynthesis, if the glow is reaction on a subatomic level rather than just the reflection of a trillion leaves. In the life cycle of autumn, what I’m looking at would be the coming of age stage, adolescent colors with a short time window before the rusty dormancy of winter. Colors suggest the seasons to us, and then we anthropomorphize the seasons to define where we are in life. I tell myself I’m not going to play that game...there are deeper aches than the aches of age. Those of plans unfulfilled, sunsets missed, certainly the ache of loves lost. Mind dumps, better left where they were cached...or is it that I can better confront them after all this time? For now I’ll stop my clock for a while and watch the light ebb and flow.
as the sun sets in portixol, a seaside district of palma de mallorca, kayaks glide towards the harbor, their journey ending with the day. the photo titled "coming home" captures the essence of return, as the golden sunset caresses the mediterranean sea, welcoming the travelers back to the tranquility of shore.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Full of festive spirit with her Santa hat for the Christmas Parade in town. Enjoy!
with four hoppers for the Eagle Leaf transload facility in West Lebanon. Claremont Concord RR operates the short stub across the Connecticut for the State of NH, taking some long distance trucks off the road and lowering costs for NH businesses.
Passed this building with the colourful "coming soon" mural in the window. The rest of the facade had been stripped back, revealing layers of older paintwork, numbers and a badly faded sign at the top, from a long-vanished previous business. I love finding an old "ghost sign". Quick snap in case it gets covered over again as the new owners do it all up.
