This image is featured in a, soon to be released, book of ours. It's a children's book called "Minimonster i naturen" (= "Mini-monsters in nature" – see, Swedish is easier than it sounds!) and the topic is – surprise, surprise – bugs! Hanna (my wife) is the author and Bruno (our son) is the main character. I'm happy to contribute with the images!

This is a two shot composite of a seven-spot ladybird about to take off from my son's index finger.

Shot with Canon 5DmkII + Nikkor 20/3.5 on a short extension tube. Natural light balanced out with diffused flash in the foreground.

On the platform a giant concrete egg is a metaphor for a world that is constantly evolving and expanding. The sculpture 'Coming World' shows an egg that is on the point of hatching, as a precursor to the birth of a new mankind. Around this work you can find the small sculptures, made by the children in all the different workshops.

The statues fan out around the platform as a massive human shield in the zone of the no man’s land. They form a symbolical boundary on the site where hundred years ago inhumane suffering took place and this for four years long.

I was wondering what was going on with many people buying this minifig like just now.

Then I saw the Marvel announcement...

Three of the five bucks started coming towards us. We had not noticed we were parked besides a dugout. I spotted them first lying down farther away in the stubble of a canola field. We parked on an approach which happened to be besides a well vegetated dugout by the road. Three bucks started walking towards us and I was wondering why but they stopped to check things out, then disappeared down into the dugout for several minutes. The others, accompanied by two more bucks started moving closer. They stopped to eat in a pile of spilled canola seeds, then moved towards the dugout as well. Many seemed hesitant to go down. While some bucks led the way down, one animal, generally a buck, remained watching at the top. I have several photos where a buck comes back half way up, near a doe who hasn’t made up her mind to go down, then she makes up her mind and he follows or leads. When everyone was done drinking, they regrouped at the top, grazed a bit on what seemed to be canola stems or weeds, then started walking North after a startled moment caused by a truck starting up, after having stopped to watch them. Mating season for pronghorn antelopes is generally described as September but one reference mentions that it lasts from September through October. Bucks gather harems of females and protect them from other male pronghorns. Many times they get into battles with each other over the female pronghorn. Early cold weather means an early rut. It seems usual for pronghorns to form mixed herds of bucks and does for the winter.(wikipedia). These bucks were the only animals still carrying their horns, and still acted as protectors of the herd of females and 2 (or 3) fawns. One smelled a doe’s urine so there may still be unmated does in this band. No fighting between bucks while we watched. They seemed to act cooperatively to protect the herd, encourage does and fawns to come and drink, etc. Part of a herd of 19 Pronghorns. I was wondering why they were so unafraid during hunting season. A bit of research indicated that zone 18 was not open this year for antelope hunting. South of the turnoff to Gray, HWY 6 S. The bad part about this sign, painted at the very top of a building in Eastern Market, is that it COULD be for a movie coming out this August, but it could also be for one that came out last year, or the year before, or....

Joel’s signature work, titled ‘The Shadows’ was an impressive sight coming to fruition, highlighting his swag bag of techniques and sure-handed processes, from his large stencil plates to the use of screens to print directly on the wall. The female portrait, her hand extended outward and three butterflies fluttering above, is indicative of Hart’s current body of work, where he is experimenting with “more-multi-layered” details of patterns and embellishments that reward inspection. Assisted by young up and comer Jacob Root (Distranged Design), Joel’s greyscale subject is brought to life by the violet backdrop and flashes of pink and green that all deftly play off the garish bright green wall behind his work.

Going well

At the risk of jinxing things, I am really grateful for everything in my life right now. Personally and professionally, I feel very lucky!

Everything’s coming up roses! I wore this to the first hour of a rose-themed event. I only stayed an hour because I had to get a good night’s sleep for a stressful work event the next day. The work event went well and now I’m feeling confident and productive.
