One good thing about being effectively snowed in on my vacation is that I had time to finish decorating my re-ment house Christmas scene! I had trouble getting a good overall shot, but this is what it looks like...

About
Haven’t been doing much photography lately, not by choice, but did get some time yesterday to take a quick HDR of one of our Christmas ornaments. Having the Nikon in my hands started to give me the itch. I have some time off within the next week or two, so maybe I’ll take a trip to The Washington National Cathedral or The National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception? Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas / Happy & Safe Holidays!
The Shot & Processing
- Eleven shot exposure, (-5…0…+5).
- Taken with a tripod and a Nikkor 35mm f1.8 lens.
- Generated and tonemapped in Photomatix.
- Topaz Detail Sharpen.
- Crop.
Here are the first ever Christmas cards I did! I did them for one of my clients, they chose the model they wanted from tinyprints.com and I did my own from scratch on photoshop, I took the pictures of course :)
Let me know what you think, happy holidays!
Another street portrait I found and wanted to share, from last Christmas street photography strolling with Edwin (iPOSE: www.flickr.com/people/evwijk/).
Not as cool as our card from last year. But I didn't have the time or energy to put into it this year. The last month and a half of the year just seemed to go by way to quick.
Anyways, hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. Didn't take many pictures on X-mas morning. Took maybe two pictures. I prefer shooting video over photos on Christmas morning. Put together this video, which I would post to Flickr if not for the 90 second limit (or has that limit changed during my Flickr hiatus?):

I lack a more Christmas-ey background, but I think it turned out okay.
I bet you recognize at least one of the authors or books back there!
Oh, and took only 2 sets! I don't know why, but I always have trouble working with 1 set...2 Sets I can handle
Today is the first day of my Christmas Holidays. I'll see my students again on January 5, 2006. For now I'm relaxing at my computer with some delicious flavored coffee.
These Christmas baubles have all been hand beaded with sequins and pins by me. I have a Christmas tradition. I bead one Christmas bauble for a select group of friends every year.
Each bauble is 15 centimetres in diameter and contain hundreds of sequins, varying in number depending upon the complexity of the image and the type of sequins I use. Most sequins I use in my work are 5mm in diameter. The exceptions are 8mm. Depending upon the colour of the sequin, I will use either a gold or a silver pin to attach it to the bauble.
The baubles take approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours and this is why my select group of friends only get one each year!
It is however, a labour of love which I do to pass the time throughout the year.
