I took this shot today Christmas Eve at the brand new Warlick Family YMCA in Gastonia NC.
Apologies for not being around lately I will try to catch up over the next few days. Happy Holidays to everyone.

The Smile on Saturday theme is to create a Christmas collage. So I collected the pictures of our new tree, organized them in a 9 picture grid and went to big huge labs which has always been my go-to way of creating a collage. And it *didn’t* work. ….sigh….
After three tries I said there’s got to be a way, so I tried capturing the pictures like I used to do and that didn’t work either!! I am nothing if not persistent….. so….. I took a picture of what I’d wanted to grab!!….
Do I get points for trying?

The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 27th of December is "festive lighting". This year for Christmas a dear friend gave me some lovely glass ornaments for my Christmas tree, including one of Big Ben. I decided to highlight it by surrounding it with colourful Christmas lights given to me by another, very dear friend, last Christmas. Together I think they make for a striking image. I hope you like my choice of subject for this week's them, and that it makes you smile.
As this is the last "Looking Close on Friday" before the New Year, I should just like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in the group a very happy New Year. May the year ahead be filled with happiness and joy for you all.
I think it is funny how Cardinals are often related to Christmas, I don't see them often, but Christmas 2024 I saw this very cooperative friend. He sat there for a long time and just let me snap away.

Our Christmas tree is a wooden one - yes, I know, all Christmas trees are wooden.... but I think you can see the difference. I bought it years ago, and it was expensive, but I don't have to pay the exorbitant prices for the real trees on offer that last five minutes....and we love it!

My tradition is to buy at least one Christmas decoration per year. I’ve got decorations that are decades old and no room for them all. I rotate them, it’s only fair.
