Corfe Castle again, but this time on long exposure.
I love the way the clouds where moving that day and I guess because all the storms that happened on the following days, that was just an indication how things would be. It was just two days in UK, but Mark Bauer and I went to some fantastic locations.

The Victoria Memorial is a large marble building in Kolkata, India, which was built between 1906 and 1921. It is dedicated to the memory of Queen Victoria, then Empress of India, and is now a museum. The design is in the Indo-Saracenic revivalist style which uses a mixture of British and Mughal elements with Venetian, Egyptian, Deccani and Islamic architectural influences. It is constructed of white Makrana marble. Atop the central dome of the Victoria Memorial is the 16 ft figure of the Angel of Victory. The Victoria Memorial has 25 galleries.

The « Japanese Bridge » is a picture I took at "la défense" in Paris.
View from the Past
I used to come here a lot when I was a kid. There was a tiny dam across the water to get to the island (where this image was taken from) We would crawl over the dam as it was only as wida as your foot and play on the island we had named 'Rabbit Island'…

Double entendre. Reflections of course meaning those in the water here but also because this was my first trip away alone in 2 months (not the 1 month I thought). It allowed me to think about my recovery, where I am now compared to not so long ago, about the next steps, basically reflect on my life. Even my photography, because I was in such a rut with it. This trip allowed me to think more clearly about so much and funny enough, I got one of my favourite photos out of it.
New York City - August 8, 2023: View of Lower Manhattan and large clouds from Liberty State Park near Jersey City, New Jersey. Tall grass and reeds grow along the shoreline at Liberty State Park and provide an excellent view of Lower Manhattan. The cumulus clouds over the city add drama to this scene.

Clifftop settlement of Oia comprised of white-washed houses and windmills during sunset, cannot fail to draw gasps of wonder from everyone who sees them.
Just photographing a painting in a museum is not very challenging....and not very interesting to look at if you just stand in front of it and point the camera directly at it. That's why I try to make the picture more interesting (and challenging for me) by including the surroundings.

Hundertwasser's stunning ceramic-decorated fountain graces the entrance of the Hundertwasserhaus, one of Vienna's most captivating attractions. This vibrant social housing complex is a true masterpiece, where exterior motifs and shapes burst with color and imagination. The soil undulates, creating a unique landscape, and trees thrive within the confines of the buildings, transforming the interior into a living, breathing work of art.
The fountain's model is a classical Roman fountain, comprising five parts placed one on top of the other:
1. A concrete basin where the signs of the zodiac are inlaid into the bottom of the fountain in mosaic.
2. A ceramic basin with matte white, black and grey portions
3. A concrete-casting basin
4. A smaller pink ceramic basin
5. A concrete-casting angel on top

All visitors of Burano remain intrigued by the many colours and the colorful houses that are reflected into the green waters of channels, by the leaning bell tower, by the tranquility and the calmness with which the elderly ladies embroider original Burano lace by their tombolo (or lace pillow), while they are laughing and chatting in squares among them. It seems to be in paradise.
The Janike-khanym mausoleum is an almost completely preserved mausoleum of the 15th century. - a fine example of "Seljuk" architecture. It is a monumental octagonal structure under a tiled roof, decorated with carved columns along the edges of the edges. It is adjoined by a carved portal with a massive arch, and an Arabic calligraphic inscription is carved at the entrance: these are hadith texts, in which, among other things, there are the words "This world is a dwelling of vanity, but the future life is eternal." In the depths of the mausoleum, on a stepped elevation, one can see a tombstone decorated with an elegant, like ornament, Arabic inscription: "This is the tomb of the great empress Janike-khanym, daughter of Tokhtamysh-khan, who died in the month of Ramadan in 841 (1437)."

К нему примыкает покрытый резьбой портал с массивной аркой, а у входа высечена арабская каллиграфическая надпись: это тексты хадисов, в которых, среди прочего, встречаются слова «Этот мир есть жилище суеты, будущая же жизнь вечна». В глубине мавзолея на ступенчатом возвышении видно надгробие, украшенное изящной, словно орнамент, арабской надписью: «Это гробница великой государыни Джанике-ханым, дочери Тохтамыш-хана, скончавшейся месяца рамазана 841 года (1437)».

Milan Cathedral, called Duomo di Milano in Italian, is a vast Gothic-style cathedral, located in the heart of Milan. It is 515 ft (157 metres) long and 302 ft (92 m) wide. It can house up to 40.000 people. Il Duomo di Milano is one of the largest Catholic churches in the world. The construction of Milan Cathedral began in 1386, which coincided with Gian Galeazzo Visconti coming into power. The purpose of this impressive construction was to modernize the area and to celebrate the expansion of the Visconti territory. The Cathedral took five centuries to complete. During this time, various architects, sculptors and artists contributed to the famous construction program known as the “Fabbrica del Duomo”. The result was an impressive and unique piece of architecture, which merged the international Gothic style with the Lombard Romanesque style.
