The Roche Towers are skyscrapers in the Swiss city of Basel. They are the tallest buildings in the country.
The illuminated building, also known as "Building 1" (German: Bau 1), was financed by pharmaceutical company Hoffmann-La Roche and designed by Herzog & de Meuron. It cost 550 million Swiss francs to build.
As part of Roche's 125th anniversary celebrations, the towers were illuminated in early October 2021.

I used to come here a lot when I was a kid. There was a tiny dam across the water to get to the island (where this image was taken from) We would crawl over the dam as it was only as wida as your foot and play on the island we had named 'Rabbit Island'…

Milan Cathedral, called Duomo di Milano in Italian, is a vast Gothic-style cathedral, located in the heart of Milan. It is 515 ft (157 metres) long and 302 ft (92 m) wide. It can house up to 40.000 people. Il Duomo di Milano is one of the largest Catholic churches in the world. The construction of Milan Cathedral began in 1386, which coincided with Gian Galeazzo Visconti coming into power. The purpose of this impressive construction was to modernize the area and to celebrate the expansion of the Visconti territory. The Cathedral took five centuries to complete. During this time, various architects, sculptors and artists contributed to the famous construction program known as the “Fabbrica del Duomo”. The result was an impressive and unique piece of architecture, which merged the international Gothic style with the Lombard Romanesque style.

В массивной церкви может вместиться около 40 000 человек. Если взглянуть на здание с высоты птичьего полета, то станет ясно, что оно напоминает католический крест, у которого вертикаль составляет 158 м, а горизонтальный неф – 92 м. Наивысшая точка собора – шпиль, украшенный статуей Девы Марии, высота самого высокого шпиля – 106 м.
Donghai Bridge, literally "East Sea Grand Bridge", is one of the longest cross-sea bridges in the world. It was completed on December 10, 2005. It has a total length of 32.5 km and connects mainland Shanghai with the offshore Yangshan deep-water port in China. Most of the bridge is a low-level viaduct. There are also cable-stayed sections to allow for the passage of large ships, largest with span of 420 meters.

Udaipur is a historic small city in the Rajasthan district. It was the capital of the Mewar Kingdom. It was founded in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II of the Sisodia clan of Rajput. Today, the city attracts thousands of tourists, especially because of its unique location surrounded by lakes and hills.

The Shwedagon Pagoda is one of the most famous pagodas in the world and it is certainly the main attraction of Yangon, Myanmar’s capital city.
The formal name of the Shwedagon Pagoda is Shwedagon Zedi Daw, which translates as The Great Golden Mountain Stupa. Nothing could be nearer to the truth, the stupa is plated with nearly 22,000 solid gold bars, it’s set with over 5500 diamonds, the main spire boasts 2300 rubies, sapphires, and other gems, and 4000 golden bells… not forgetting the largest of which is a whopping 72 carat diamond.

SETÚBAL (Portugal): Portal norte da Igreja de São Julião.
Da primitiva igreja dedicada a S. Gião ou Julião, datada da segunda metade do século XIII e atribuída pela tradição ao empenho dos pescadores locais (PORTELA, M. Maria, 1882), apenas se sabe que esteve ligada através de uma tribuna aos paços contíguos de D. Jorge de Lencastre, Duque de Aveiro e Coimbra e Mestre da Ordem de Santiago, funcionando quase como sua capela privativa, até c. 1510. Em 1513 determina D. Manuel a ampliação desta igreja, bem como da igreja de Santa Maria da Graça, ambas paroquiais, obra a ser paga em parte pela população local, embora no caso presente o Mestre de Santiago tenha contribuído com 500$000 réis para os trabalhos.
A ampliação veio a revelar-se de facto uma reconstrução total, não sem terem surgido vários imprevistos: durante os trabalhos deu-se a derrocada de uma nave, e houve necessidade de rebaixar outra (SILVA, J. Custódio Vieira, 1990, p. 70). O templo manuelino assim erguido sofreu por sua vez os efeitos do terramoto de 1531, não completamente conhecidos, mas que terão conduzido à segunda reconstrução do edifício, terminada por volta de 1570; alterada já boa parte da sua feição original, veio ainda a conhecer nova e extensa destruição aquando do cataclismo de 1755. É já no reinado de D. Maria que a igreja é reconstruída, pouco conservando hoje do templo quinhentista, à excepção dos dois portais manuelinos (o principal, a Ocidente, e o portal Norte), bem como a estreita porta que dá acesso à torre sineira. At over 500 years old, the Fuli Bridge is yet another ancient stone bridge which can be found in the countryside around Yangshuo, China.

This building is one of the remaining few Colonial Building in Colombo. The construction of this building was started in year 1924 and completed in year 1927. Purpose of constructing this building was to use as the office of the mayor and council chamber. Same time it was designed to be used as a ball room.
Colombo Municipal Council building, or famously known as “Colombo Town Hall” one of the prominent land mark in Colombo. This building is located in front of the Viharamahadevi park and currently houses Colombo Municipality mayor’s office, admin staff and council meeting room.
Construction of this building was done according to the British architecture. The front white Columns and the roof top dome add majestic look to the building. The original land of the this building included the Viharamahadevi park also. Even now it has a large ground in front of the building and it used for various meetings.

Основную часть здания венчает большой купол, покоящийся на широком барабане с колоннами. На нем разместилась изящная конструкция, которая напоминает тот же самый купол, но гораздо меньшего размера.
The 'Judges Chair' in Dunnabridge Pound. A granite built structure which is believed to have been built in the 16th century to provide shelter for the pound keeper. It is close to the B3357 road between Two Bridges and Dartmeet in the Dartmoor National Park.

"No one knows for sure why this 'chair' is called the Judge's Chair, some say it's linked with the Stannary Court at Crockern Tor which is not far away. The purpose of the Judge's Chair was to provide shelter for the pound keeper. His role was to oversee animals that were driven to the pound following the drifts and to collect any necessary fines from their owners.
Drifts were a round-up of livestock who had illegally grazed within the Forest of Dartmoor."
It is also said that the last pound keeper, Miss Dinah Tuckett was a formidable character, barring the gate and refusing to release any animal before the fine crossed her palm.
The Big Khan Mosque is located on the Palace Square to the east of the northern gate. It is one of the largest mosques in the Crimea and one of the first buildings of the Khan's palace. The mosque was built in 1532 by Sahib I Giray and bore his name in the 17th century.
In 1736 the mosque was damaged by fire and later restored during the reign of Khan Selameta Giray.

Большая Ханская мечеть является одним из главных символов Бахчисарая. Построенная в 1532 году при Сахибе I Герае, она до сих пор считается одной из крупнейших мечетей Крымского полуострова.
Внушительное сооружение со стрельчатой аркадой и майоликовыми вставками венчает четырехскатная черепичная крыша. Своды внутреннего зала поддерживают высокие колонны, а на южной стене мечети расположены красивые витражные окна и михраб.
По периметру верхнего яруса проходит широкий балкон, или хоры, где можно увидеть великолепную Ханскую ложу, также украшенную витражами и узорами. В Ханскую ложу со двора ведет отдельный вход. Большая Ханская мечеть имеет два островерхих десятигранных минарета, достигающих в высоту 28 метров. Крыши минаретов венчают бронзовые полумесяцы.
В 50-е годы XVIII столетия во дворе мечети работало медресе, не сохранившееся до наших дней. В советское время Ханская мечеть была закрыта, а ее помещения использовались под музей и лапидарий. И лишь недавно мечеть была вновь возвращена верующим.

I love the way the clouds where moving that day and I guess because all the storms that happened on the following days, that was just an indication how things would be. It was just two days in UK, but Mark Bauer and I went to some fantastic locations.

El Asahi Beer Hall es uno de los edificios más singulares y característicos de la zona de Asakusa en Tokio. Como su nombre ya indica, este edificio de 22 pisos es la sede de la cervecera Asahi.

The Church of the Holy Archangel Michael over the village of Oreanda was built in 2006 at the foot of Mount Ai-Nikola. As archaeological excavations indicate, an ancient Christian monastery used to be located on this site. The temple was built by the famous Yalta architect Vyacheslav Bondarenko and is surrounded by mountains. When broadcasting the singing of the male church choir, voices repeatedly reflected from the rocks create an unusual acoustic effect. Such a monumental sound can only be achieved in special concert halls.
В п. Ореанда храм Архангела Михаила построен по проекту архитектора Вячеслава Александровича Бондаренко. Храм начали строить в 2005 г., а уже 21 ноября 2006 г., в день празднования Собора Архистратига Михаила и прочих Небесных сил бесплотных, совершилось его торжественное открытие и освящение. С этого времени тут начали совершаться богослужения, таинства крещения и венчания, другие требы.
В плане он квадратной формы, а с востока прибавлена алтарная часть в виде полукруглой апсиды. С других сторон стены завершаются треугольными фронтонами, опирающимися на капители белоснежных колонн. Сооружение имеет пять глав: большая, возвышающаяся в центре, символизирует Иисуса Христа, а четыре угловых – евангелистов.

Just photographing a painting in a museum is not very challenging....and not very interesting to look at if you just stand in front of it and point the camera directly at it. That's why I try to make the picture more interesting (and challenging for me) by including the surroundings.

For a very short time, when the lights of the Chain Bridge pillars are just warming up - they are green in color . After a few moments the pillars are illuminated with the regular, yellowish colored light.Traffic flows through the bridge and the Clarck Adam roundabout at the blue hour in Budapest, Hungary.
