Today I started the day waiting for the sunrise. The fog was pretty thick over Colpoys Bay and I didn't expect much of a show. However, we got a few glimpses of light now and then and peaceful waters. This was the start to my wonderful Mother's Day.
The Überseebrücke is a bridge in the harbour of Hamburg. The city has more bridges than any other city in Europe. In fact, it has more bridges than London, Amsterdan and Venice combined.
The blue illumination is part of the 2017 Blue Port.
Goddess Kali: Kali is a fierce and powerful deity in Hinduism, often depicted with a dark complexion, multiple arms, and a garland of skulls. She is worshipped during Kali Puja for protection and to destroy evil forces.
Celebrations: Kali Puja is celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm. The main puja (worship) involves rituals like bathing the idol of Kali, offering flowers, incense, and sweets, and performing aarti (ritual of waving lighted wicks) while chanting hymns and mantras.
Artistic Representations: In West Bengal, artisans create elaborate idols of Goddess Kali, often depicting her in various dynamic and symbolic poses. These idols are worshipped in homes, temples, and pandals (temporary structures).
Cultural Significance: Beyond its religious aspects, Kali Puja is deeply embedded in Bengali culture. It coincides with Diwali celebrations in other parts of India but holds a distinct cultural identity in Bengal, where it is one of the major festivals of the year.
I caught her in a small venue in San Juan Capistrano, Ca. (The Coach House- 27 Jan 2019) She's an American singer and song writer. More recognized older works might be "Wreck of the Day" or "Breathe". Excellent show. If you get a chance to catch her show, it's well worth seeing. The lighting was stage lighting. Depending on the artist they allow cameras in the place but no flash photography. The lighting effects were very interesting. They had a lot of Red/Blue and Pink/Blue, Green, Red, All Blue, All Red and they would switch them around for different back lighting effects. 125mm, 1/125, f8, ISO 12800.

For Ron's February Alphabet Fun Month 2024, here is a poor, dried, withered Amaryllis bloom, which consisted of four blossoms, last summer. It was so pretty, and even dried I thought it was very pretty. So, that is my "A" for this year.
Rather heavily edited, for the fun of it.
It was a white blossom, but I used yellowish light and bluish light on either side, and it turned out like this.
Happy, um... FAFM!

Bombo quarry is now a heritage site, near Kiama in New South Wales, Australia. The rock is latite, a type of basalt.
This is a shot from earlier this year. I had a disaster with my computer last week, with the loss of everything on my hard drive. Thank goodness for cloud storage and the wonders of subscription-based software. It's taken over a week, but everything is almost back to normal. Everything but the fact I've lost all my own LR presets I've created over the journey. I decided to start going through some of my back catalogues to find some of my favourite edits, using them to create new presets. I came across this previously unedited photo from Melbourne's Webb Bridge. I'm not sure why I skipped past it 6 months ago, because I like the shallow depth of field allowing the two people to remain anonymous.
Shadows danced as I let an egg roll slowly on a white surface. There were moving trees outside the window and the shadows played patterns over the egg and surface. Loved the blue blur of shadows.
With deck lights ablaze, the Algoway and John D. Leitch lie silently at their winter berths on a mild winter evening.

Taken at the top of the "strong via ferrata" at dusk before descending it for the first time. You can still see the last colorful trees down in the valley and at the horizon as indian summer is nearing it's end here.

found 2 little light up ornaments at the kringloop and took a chance that i could find batteries that would make them shine. this is the star. further along in my photostream is the star and the moon and even a little farther back is the mini-collage of them without lights
