of She Spawn.

I don't do portraits of people that well, so I thought I'd try my hand at Action Figures on a very rainy cold spring day.

The background is from the toy packaging. Blue tinted cube light behind her to the left of the photo and a LED flashlight to light her face.

I constructed a lightbox out of materials around her.

She is really quite a detailed action figure made by McFarlane Toys.

A nice not so warm summer sunset to kick off the weekend. I was hoping for some NLC later on but they did not appear at all this night.

Still a nice place to have a cold beer (and bring all your waste back home again!).

Shot this from the wharf in Delhaven. Paddy's Island in the foreground.

White light, blue light....

I kinda liked this picture when I loaded it up, so I have not done any work with it at all (not even cropped it). The story behind it is that we had an early start at dawn in the field when we was nearly attacked by the fog. It lay over the whole area, in addition it was relatively dark and slightly bluish light. It was a fantastic atmosphere in the field, in addition we had found this year's biggest house from Iron Age. Magic... Then I thought: can I have a better job than this:)

Over 9 inches of snow covered the conifers and the delicate bare branches of a lone deciduous tree in the blue light of a January pre-dawn.

The expression "a blue streak" means to do something very fast, e.g., "to move like a blue streak" or "talk a blue streak". This certainly describes my life lately, and as a result I have fallen *way* behind on posting photos. It hasn't stopped me from taking photos though, and I do have quite a few to work through. However, quantity and quality sometimes don't go together and I've found myself in something of a creative rut of late. Can't seem to break through my compositional mental blocks. Also, my lucky streak with colorful clouds earlier in the year has sadly come to an end and my more recent shots have come with either too few or too many clouds. This shot did not require too much creativity in composition. Or rather, I like my fairly "standard" comp and didn't come away thinking there was anything that might have worked much better. (of course, that's probably not true, but basically, I'm not unhappy with this one).

From a very quick visit to the Netherlands I had a few hours to wander Amsterdam at night. Was trying to get to the highly photographed Leidse Gracht location (see Albert Dros for good examples from there), but got lost somewhere along the way. Eventually found a nice looking bridge and decided that would do. In between the many takes ruined by car lights, I managed to get this one with a boat going under the bridge. A 90s exposure and voila, le "streak"! Taken with Pentax K-1 and Pentax 24-70mm lens (no pixel shift used here due to the light streaking).

To all my good flickr friends who take the time to view and comment on my photos, I do apologize for my absence these past few weeks and hope I can get caught up over the next few weeks.

along Seine river in bateau-mouche

Taken from the balcony of the holiday home we rented on the hillside below the village of Montauroux in Provence, France, after a storm had broken. Montauroux is one of the "perched villages" in the hills above Cannes and Nice. The village lights were just starting to come on in the twilight, as a wonderful burst of reflected light from the sunset framed the scene. This is a panorama produced from two handheld images taken alongside each other
