A bit of apple entices this Blue-gray tanager (Thraupis episcopus) to sit for a photograph.
In Costa Rica this bird is known as "viuda" - that translates as "widow" - I don't know why they are called that.

This could be the poisonous rare and dreaded blue tailed lizard of the wild west. Or just a blue tailed lizard we found this weekend either way He looked pretty cool. Please view large.

I shot this a night early (tomorrow is the official blue moon), mainly because the moon is amazing tonight and tomorrow is supposed to be partly cloudy. That could mean an even cooler moon photo, or it could mean no visible moon.
I shot this in Tungsten to get a blue cast, and then made it a little more blue in LR.

Ok, last batch, and this one's totally self-indulgent. I love water, and waves, and I was trying to get the dynamics down on film. I wish I lived closer to the ocean.

Feeling blue in the winter months....well you are not alone. I hate winter! I hate driving to work on bad roads, I hate being cold, I hate my dry skin in the winter....yep...I got the winter blues.
Some shots from May trip to Rondeau for spring birding. Somewhat late but ... still a beautiful place. As for birds - I heard more than I saw and I saw more than I could shoot. One or two keepers.

Grape Hyacinth (Muscari Armeniacum) Muscari armeniacum, commonly called grape hyacinth, is an early spring-blooming bulbous perennial that is native to southeastern Europe (including Armenia). It features conical racemes of slightly fragrant, tightly packed, deep violet blue, urn-shaped flowers atop scapes rising to 8” tall in early spring. Each bulb produces 1-3 scapes with 20-40 flowers per scape. Each flower has a thin white line around the rim. Dense inflorescence purportedly resembles an elongated, upside-down bunch of grapes, hence the common name. Scapes rise up from somewhat floppy clumps of narrow, fleshy, basal, green leaves (to 12” long) that appear in autumn and live through the cold winter to spring when the plants flower.
