Getting in close to a tiny butterfly

This Great Blue Heron was hunting in the marsh at the duck pond at Colony Farm Park in Coquitlam BC. From hunting in the waters surrounded by disintegrating bulrushes, it's beak has become coated in bulrush fluff.

So excuse me forgetting but these things I do,

You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue.

Anyway, the thing is, what I really mean

Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen.

More feathers! A brilliant blue one that fell off a feather duster and a white one that a seagull didn't want! No expense spared when it comes to subjects!

Blue Jay

This brightly colored peace of glass was located on a beach on Jeju Island, South Korea.

I went back to the meadow this morning (see previous photos for details), at about 6:30 to see if I could get some more shots of the communal roost. I only just got there in time - they were warming up and taking to the air.

Bluebells in Bury Hill Woodland, West Sussex.

I wanted to capture the bluebell in the foreground and the also the shades of blue in the bokeh and blur. So I used Gimp to 'colour select' in 'addition' mode to select all of the shades of blue in the flowers (this took about 30 minutes in all), increased the colour saturation. Inverted the selection and desaturated the background. Finally, adjusted the brightness and contrast of the desaturated background.

Came out pretty well.

Finishing up a bunny dress for Peggy just in time for Easter.

Cape Verde rose from volcanic eruptions over millions of years. At the entrance to Porto da Praia, a white lighthouse stands above dark lava rock — a reminder of the islands’ origins and a preview of the rugged interior landscapes beyond the coast.

A 25-30 ton Brachiosaurus next to a 180 ton, 100ft (30 m) long blue whale (can you spot the human?).
