Spring is getting close.

It is like summer still with record breaking high temps in the upper 80s. It was so BLUE (no color manipulation) that it amazed me - sky and water.

The Blue-fronted Amazon (Amazona aestiva), also called the Turquoise-fronted Amazon and Blue-fronted Parrot, is a South American species of Amazon parrot and one of the most common Amazon parrots kept in captivity as a pet or companion parrot. Its common name is derived from the distinctive blue marking on its head just above its beak.

Let me open this heart again

Wider than the sky

To all the pain and wonder

Of being in this life

Of being in this life

Let me go

Let me love as the crow flies

Though we live in a maze

Let me wake up each morning

With you in this place

Meg Hutchinson - As The Crow Flies

The ambient lighting came from my tv and the main room light. I used a single flash bounced off different sides of a 5 way reflector to change the colours and experimented with the cameras WB to change the colour range.

I used the multiple exposure feature on my D7000 to combine the cool blue light of the sunset with the trees silhouetted against the sky. I used 3 exposures with the first consisting of just the sky, followed by the trees in the foreground, and finally the second layer of trees.

New purply-blue shirt, $14 from Express and the gray pants I've been searching for clearance from the BR factory store. And you can't really tell, but a black and white houndstooth belt, just for fun, clearance from Target.

I'm all in the new 'it' color according to Pantone, the authority on these things.

For the take a class with Dave group. Sunday having coffee at a very cool shop, the sun was pouring through this blue paned window. It has turned out to be the bluest thing I've seen all week. I adjusted the levels, and burned in some detail, but The blue is as it was.

I do have extremely blue eyes, shot with a beauty dish and 580 EXII @1/8 power. The angle the light hit my iris, gave my eyes a really blue tint.

Some ding-dong had covered the exterior of his/her car with blue glitter, then epoxied the whole thing. It was peeling, but this bit was nice.

It is not the sharpest picture; but I really enjoyed watching him stuff his beak!

Stepping out of my comfort zone again by getting used to taking another Selfie; the purpose of the exercise being that if I know what it's like being the subject it'll be easier to take portraits of others and help them be comfortable in front of the camera (as you can see, I'm trying very hard not to look at the camera, lol).

It took about 20 shots to find one I was prepared to live with, haha, as I wanted all natural light and short of going out in the freezing cold this was the best I could do.
