Another session this afternoon. I was able to get a fair bit closer today. I will spend a bit of time with this guy over the weekend.
One of a friend's lovely Siamese cats - Toddy is normally shy of the camera, but gave me a good model's stare for this shot. [In and out of Explore! Thanks all for noticing, I didn't. His crazy cat-lady Mama will be so proud.]
Who said that a blue rose doesn't exist?
The blue hue brought out some details that were washed out by the original color. It also made the edges of the petals white. It suprised me and I hope you like it!
Well I went looking for the tiny bees I found in the park the other day, couldn't see them anywhere, but I did find this pretty fly that alighted on a leaf for a few seconds for me to catch a shot. It is so shiny my outline is reflected in the blue of its back.....also, the blue sky, the green behind me, not very clear I know but still that is what it is!...hope someone can ID it. Little yellow face and great red eyes......PS. Wishing everybody a really Happy Christmas and New Year Season from our house to yours!!!

Actually this is very tiny flower, no more than 5 mm. At this magnification is looks really unusual like something alien. Taken using extension tubes and reversed 35mm lens.

OK, vandaag is het volgens de populaire wetenschap (en een reclamebureau) dus 'Blue Monday', de meest depressieve dag van het jaar. Speciaal voor de gelegenheid hierbij een foto met veel 'blue'. Ik heb jaren geleden al eens een soortgelijke foto gemaakt, maar wilde het weer eens proberen. En nu dreef er fijn veel troep in het water op de voorgrond! :-)

For something a little different I headed for a local pond a couple of weeks back looking for damselflies. I found plenty and had a very enjoyable couple of hours getting rather soggy kneeeling in the morning dew.
The name may say it all but a beautiful little creature none the less.
Although I am now reliably informed it's not a Common Blue but a Blue-tailed Damselfly (thanks Chris) and I have duly changed the title.

Twightlight on Commencement Bay in Tacoma WA. Long exposure shot. The streak low on the horizon is a plane leaving SeaTac Airport. The lighhouse is Browns Point Lighthouse. There has been a light at that point since 1887.
Between 03/20/2012 and 03/25/2012 heavy cargo vessel the "Blue Mariln" visited the harbour of Rotterdam to discharge his cargo consisted of multiple barge vessels. Unlucky for me he was allready discharge when i arrived.
His journey was started in "JPFKH Fukae, Hiroshima" on the 2nd of February and his first stop was "Antwerpen, Belgium". He reached the harbour of "Antwerpen" on the 24th of February and left one day later. One strange thing is that it almost took a month before he actally arrived in Rotterdam. No idea what he did in the mean time.
Finally arrived he anchored hisself at berth R81 in the Calandcanal.
