Singapore Showcase 2011

Taken at Chipping Campden School at around 3pm with a Sony A100 and Sigma 10-20mm at 10mm and F16. A five set HDR (1EV steps) merged in Artizen 2.5.21 and tone mapped with Lock05. No other post processing was done (other than to remove a dust smudge). This is a relatively new block for the kids that replaced some awful wooden huts.

...spruce blocks and linings for a change. Somehow the ribs seem 'crisper' soundwise when working on them. Sort of figures as willow is pretty rubbery stuff.

This is the latest violin - made on the Bergonzi mould from the last bit of my Scottish Sycamore.

I happened to be walking down 15th St to get some pictures of the snow in Washington, when a motorcade left the White House. Unfortunately, the camera I was using is lousy for capturing this kind of fast moving action.

Capitol Hill Block Party Day 3

This block for Tonie was so much fun to make. She chose the "Spool Block" designed by Krista Fleckenstein from the book Modern Blocks. The pattern calls for a single cut of 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" of fabric for the "thread," but Tonie put her own spin on it and asked us to substitute six 1 1/2" strips.

I have seen such huge cement blocks been used for the construction of wave breaks.

These blocks are "vintage", as they date back to my childhood in the 1950's. My Dad made them for my brothers and me out of scrap 2 by 4's. This is about all that's left of them. As you can see, they have been much played with!
