Since 1995, sculptor Ingeborg Hunzinger`s Block der Frauen ( the Women`s Block) has stood on the green space on Rosenstrasse - its human figures in red sandstone with Jewish symbols recall the women`s protest against what was known as the "Fabrikation" (Factory action). And in 1993, two pillars were erected on either side of the grass areas off Rosenstrasse to inform visitors of the history of this place.
This was for the Fall 2010 Senior Light Show at Georgia Tech. I designed these kid blocks that only light up when put in the correct order. Using 4 bright-white LEDS, a couple of 3-volt batteries, magnets and some wires in each block, I was able to create a circuit that completes and lights the faces of the blocks when placed in the right order.
This is an electro printing block on a columbian press. Its is a line block of a catalogue image for the 1874 coalbrookdale catalogue it is 10inches wide (25cm). On the bed can be seen hempel quions and quoin key.
Norio blocking my way into my room. I had to pay him toll (petting him and cleaning up after he decided he no longer wanted to keep a hair ball).
As soon as I saw the green fabric, I knew I wanted to do a Dresden Plate. The flower came out on the small side so I decided to add the stripes.
I sewed the appliques on by hand and it was actually very relaxing and went quickly. I'm thinking there might need to be more Dresden Plates in my future.
I iwish I could blame my belatedness on that, but really it was just me getting busy with other things. I hope this block makes up for it!
Making progress...Just 3 more to finish for rows 3-5...then the final 14. Oh...and the 1/2 blocks...

Talata block that was used for building the Aten temples at Tell el Amarna or the name that the ancient Egyptian used of the city -Akhetaten. The unique artistic style of the Amarna period is shown through a variety of colored scenes; a group of workers of wooden furniture, workers cutting rocks using chisels and hammers in addition to a worker carrying a sack.

No, I am not being even weirder than usual. The city blocks in the centre of Helsinki are all numbered and they have names, many of them after animals. This shot is from the corner of block #31, called the Rhinoceros.
I found it tricky to find a whirling block I liked which wasn't paper pieced but this one fit the bill perfectly. I love it! Hope Louise loves it too! I have heaps of fabric left over so will make up another one in a different colourway.
Here's the link to the block.
