Block 1 of 3
Part of 'i have to say' monthly sew-along {ihavetosay.typepad.com/randi/2012/01/fresh-squeezed-sew-a...}.
Not sure if I'll turn this into a mini-quilt as the sew-along suggests or put the three together into a table runner?!? Or pillows?!?
Whatever I do, I'm smitten and can't wait to do 2 more :).

The June block of the Snip.Sew.Send virtual quilting bee. The theme was wonky stripes, using the fabric provided.
Remember these picture blocks? I love them! I remember having a set when I was a kid. Each side had a puzzle from a fairy tale, so the blocks made 6 different picture puzzles. The inside of the box top shows one of the pictures, and then the other pictures are included in the box.
I found these at a little antique shop and I'm not sure if its the same set I had as a kid, but pretty close. I went on and on about them and then my daughter gave them to me for Valentine's Day! : ) A big surprise since she hates antique shops and doesn't usually listen to what I say in them... only asks when we can leave.
Love these blocks!
A few more blocks for my block party quilting bee quilt. Just a couple more and then it's time to sew it together!
Leanne - I'm so sorry these are late. I did struggle with the horizontal print blocks so please feel free to remove them if they aren't right.
104 Commercial Street, Nanaimo, BC.
Description of Historic Place:
The Gusola Block is a triangular, two-storey vernacular building located on the main downtown thoroughfare. The historic place is confined to the building footprint.
Heritage Value:
Designed and built around 1937 by local contractors, the Gusola Block is a typical commercial building of the period. With a few notable exceptions, most of Nanaimo's buildings were not architect-designed. The Gusola Block's blend of architectural styles exemplifies the predominantly vernacular nature of Nanaimo's architecture and underlines the city's modest, working-class character.
The Gusola Block represents a shift to a more modern building style as exhibited in other buildings of the era including the B.C. Hydro Building (1941), the Eagle's Hall (1934) and Tom Brown's Autobody (1937).
The Gusola Block is an excellent example of a building designed to fit an irregularly shaped lot. The triangular lot was defined by Nanaimo's original topography; until the inner harbour was filled in the 1960s, this lot followed the line of the original waterfront.
The Gusola Block forms part of a significant cluster of heritage buildings located at a prominent intersection on the main downtown thoroughfare.

Character-defining elements of the Gusola Block include:
-All of the elements of the building's vernacular style including the California Mission style curved parapets and the Art Deco/Moderne style flat walls, flat roof, and decorative tile work.
-the triangular form and simple massing of the building.
-the location on the main downtown thoroughfare within a grouping of heritage buildings.
Our friend Sheryl the landscaper always complains about hedges trimmed to "blocks and balls". This would be her hell.
Tenuous Link: checkerboard
Final blocking: folded at the shoulders to lie flat.
A new DesigningVashti crochet pattern in sizes Teen through adult Large/1X and a full range of lengths. Its cropped prototype won an award from the Crochet Liberation Front in 2010.
Crocheting starts out with Tunisian filet lace and a type of ruana construction. The edging is regular crochet basic stitches (chains, single crochets).
So partner, would you want sashing between the blocks, or as is? At the moment it makes an 18" pillow
Description: Wooden printing block showing an image of a bridge across a river with people crossing.
Accession Number: SH.2009.213
Further Notes: Prior to the Digital Age, newspapers, books, posters, tickets, forms, and all other types of printed-paper were produced with a printing press. To form the words, moveable type was used and print blocks would be used along side to add images or decorations around the text. A print block is also known as a letterpress cut or a printing die.

Dopo il primo MiniCD "Down With the Madness" uscito per Countdown Records in Luglio 2007, i Concrete Block suonano costantemente e condividono il palco con Sepultura, Sick Of It All, Murphy's Law, Maroon, Shattered Realm, Skarhead, Agnostic Front, The Business, Slapshot e tanti altri.
Il bassista viene rimpiazzato perchè trova posto in un TV show come stand up commedia e l'album nuovo prende forma. Si arriva al 2013 con una piena attività live e "Twilight of the Gods", l'ultimo lavoro uscito per F.O.A.D. Records, registrato al One Black Sox studio da Carlo Girardi. E' la storia continua…
