Melbourne's impressive Block Arcade was constructed in 1891 and is as much a popular shopping precinct today as when it was built. The architecture is stunning.

The Nova block on the CSX New Castle Subdivision ended, appropriately, in Nova, Ohio. Both the block signs and the color position signal seen here are now gone. (Scanned from a slide)

This is as far as I have come now - I laid them out on the floor just to see what I have going on.... and there are 8 in all now, in varying sizes and drama.

Hmmmm.... what to do?! Giving it quite some thought....

Our first FDNY Block Party of the summer was so much fun! We had a great time in Brooklyn. FDNY members were on hand to share safety information, give CPR classes, demonstrations and tours, and much more! “Once again, we open our doors to New Yorkers, to meet the men and women who bravely serve our city,” said Acting Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh. “Like so many gatherings, these important community events that celebrate the connection between FDNY members and the people they protect were cancelled due to the pandemic. It’s exciting to hold them once more and they provide an important opportunity to teach people of all ages critical fire and life safety tips, as well as afford young people a chance to explore rewarding careers with our Department.”

basic block almost done. need to trim down a wee bit to 8" square, then handembroider my name. i'm still deciding whether or not to add the applique i had originally intended to use. it would add a very personal touch for the recipient which is kinda the point. but i'm worried it might make it too busy. then again.... what's too busy for me? if only i knew what she'd prefer...

Prepare for trouble...

Here are some of the first blocks I've made for my month in my quilting bee. Can't wait to see what the other members create!

A full cell block. Lots of history happened here.

A few more pictures of my laser-cut, Lego-compatible blocks.

Block 8 is done. This one was definitely easier to piece than block 7.

This is block 1 of the Fat Quarter Shop snapshots block of the month. I tried to use prints, really, but in the end I had to go with Grunge solids.

Four finished pieced blocks for Lily's Quilts Quilt Along. After squaring up the blocks, then sewing on the borders, it really is quite flat and not as wonky as I worried it would be!
