The Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad Depot, also known as the Rock Island Depot, is an historic building located in Atlantic, Iowa, United States. The Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad built the first tracks through the area in 1868. The city of Atlantic was founded at the time of the railroad construction. It grew to become the largest and the most significant community along the Rock Island lines between Des Moines and Council Bluffs.[2] The present depot dates from 1898, and it is not a standard-plan depot for the railroad. The unusual design suggests it is the work of an architect, possibly from Chicago.[2] It was built during a prosperous period for the railroad when it was able to replace its facilities along its mainline. The express freight and baggage building attached to the depot was built at the same time. The passenger depot replaced a frame combination passenger and freight depot a block away. After its use as a depot, the building fell into disrepair before it was restored. It now houses the local chamber of commerce. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.[1]

Bitty Blocks for Group 2 Houses. Will be sending out on Monday so please choose if you want a special block.

July is my month for TwitterBee. I'm a little behind on putting together an inspiration post and fabrics but I'm thinking my theme will be star blocks featuring the new Heather Ross Far Far Away II fabric.

it looks better when you press L but i know you wont, so yea...

Unusual blocks with a nick, 1" square with 2 circle inserts and 2 square inserts, found in a box of bits. Not sure what set that they came from but they are type high and big enough for me to use to reset the platen I have just dismantled and cleaned up.

For her blocks in Bee Unique Bee Knotty Deanna sent out some pretty earth-toned fabrics and asked for almost any 12.5" non-wonky block. She indicated that the black print was her inspiration/focus fabric.

This block is "Happy-Go-Lucky" from "Quiltmake's 100 Blocks Volume 3." It uses three different techniques -- paper piecing (for the four corner triangles with the brown star points,) templates (for the units containing the points of the centre star,) and then regular piecing. This is actually the first time I've ever used templates -- I was hard to maintain perfect accuracy after tracing the template to freezer paper and then cutting around it out of the fabric. I think that it turned out okay, though.

Illinois' home volleyball season started with a match against the defending champion Stanford - coached by Kevin Hambly, who had just left Illinois for Stanford.

The Illini stayed close, but fell 25-23, 25-23, 25-22. Here Stanford's Michaela Keefe manages to get the ball over a block set by the "jumping juniors," 1 Jordyn Poulter and 5 Ali Bastianelli. Both Poulter and Bastianelli were named to the AVCA All-American Third Team this year after both earned an Honorable Mention last year.

Are these block prints or screen prints or what?

Got these from House Industries. Great typeface, and great little blocks. Wish I could say I bought these for my child, but that would be a lie =) .... (especcially since I don't *have* a child)

Set of blocks I made for my son. Nine cubes, each face reveals a different letter of the alphabet. Letters are grouped to maximize the number of words that can be spelled, with a slight tweak to allow my son to spell his own name.

Private message me if you're interested in a set of your own.

Two more blocks - yellow and yellow-orange. The two colors aren't as distinct as I would have liked, but oh, well. :)

The plan is to use Connie (Freemotion by the River's) QAYG tutorial for finishing them off www.conniekresin.com/2013/03/qayg-tutorial-ra

Blocks I've received so far from the 3x6 star hive plus some extras I made. My colors are cherry red, aqua, leaf green, and pink.

Improv is not my forte so hope my 'straight' blocks are ok!

This is my center block for the Quilt Along. It is called Air Castle and it is the first block (alphabetically!) in my Block Tool. I'm pretty new to quilting, and just got this cool reference and figured, why not start with "A" :)
