For her blocks in Bee Unique Bee Knotty Deanna sent out some pretty earth-toned fabrics and asked for almost any 12.5" non-wonky block. She indicated that the black print was her inspiration/focus fabric.
This block is "Happy-Go-Lucky" from "Quiltmake's 100 Blocks Volume 3." It uses three different techniques -- paper piecing (for the four corner triangles with the brown star points,) templates (for the units containing the points of the centre star,) and then regular piecing. This is actually the first time I've ever used templates -- I was hard to maintain perfect accuracy after tracing the template to freezer paper and then cutting around it out of the fabric. I think that it turned out okay, though.

All 30 of my Kaleidoscope blocks are finished! Half of them look like this! I was really pleased at at how well the points matched, good enough for me anyway! I was also really pleased at how flat these blocks were, I was worried! All I have to do is sew them together now! I can't wait to see what the finished layout will look like!

Got these from House Industries. Great typeface, and great little blocks. Wish I could say I bought these for my child, but that would be a lie =) .... (especcially since I don't *have* a child)
Two more blocks - yellow and yellow-orange. The two colors aren't as distinct as I would have liked, but oh, well. :)

Melbourne's impressive Block Arcade was constructed in 1891 and is as much a popular shopping precinct today as when it was built. The architecture is stunning.

This is my center block for the Quilt Along. It is called Air Castle and it is the first block (alphabetically!) in my Block Tool. I'm pretty new to quilting, and just got this cool reference and figured, why not start with "A" :)
A runner listens to the safety presentation during the opening ceremonies of the 2013 Grand Teton Relays in Ashton Idaho. The Relay is a 24 to 32 hour, 180 mile race from Ashton Idaho to Grand Teton Village, Wyoming across the areas mountains and valleys including the Tetons and Jackson Hole. Teams are made up of 12 members with each member running 3 legs.
I really liked the retro color scheme from the book, so I duplicated it as best as I could. My first totally mitered square block.
I will add a ring to the corner and use it as a potholder.

This is my first sample block for the scrappy holiday block swap using a Thimbleberries holiday collection. This collection is more of an old fashion Christmas. Just throwing this out there to see what everyone thinks, then I'll make my next combination that is totally different! tge second combination is brighter reds and greens with more contemporary prints! Everyone let me know which they think will go better with the other swap blocks!
