Here are some of the first blocks I've made for my month in my quilting bee. Can't wait to see what the other members create!
This is block 1 of the Fat Quarter Shop snapshots block of the month. I tried to use prints, really, but in the end I had to go with Grunge solids.
Four finished pieced blocks for Lily's Quilts Quilt Along. After squaring up the blocks, then sewing on the borders, it really is quite flat and not as wonky as I worried it would be!

I made this block for Flossie... I had to have one of her darn kitties! I'll pop this in the mail with the other bitty! I got this 2 inch Santa pattern from one of the ladies in my guild! Thanks Sue!
Pink, Yellow and Orange granny square blocks for Dolores. They're going to make one very happy quilt :)

This stunning tower block has a timeless modernity which belies its age. It was designed by French architect P Muller on commission by the eponymous local racing and gambling magnate Marcel Leopold, a Swiss Jew. Mixing sleek lines with curves and plenty of glass, the style is Streamline Moderne. It contained both residential apartments and offices. The American Consul-General to Tientsin lived here. The units contain glass-enclosed terraces to catch the warmth from the sun but to keep out the fierce northern Chinese winters. Each unit had an entrance hall, living room with fireplace, dining room, several bedrooms, servants quarters with modern fittings. The upper floors had views over the Hai River to the right of the photo. Truly a beautiful architectural gem!
