I LOVE photos of quilts in the snow, but never seem to have a new quilt to photograph when it snows here (mild winters), or else I don't think about it until after the snow has melted. Well, the sun came out just a bit ago and the snow is already starting to melt, so I grabbed the Bee Hexed In block I finished last night for Brooke and RAN outside (in a pair of my husband's shoes that were left by the door). Finally -- a quilt (block) in the snow!

Block designed by Tacha for Fat Quarterly, Issue 1.
MOC Blocks are a TWO BRICK / BASEPLATE SYSTEM. There design is to help you with your projects in three ways:
One is to support the flimsy Base Plates and keep you MOC from falling apart. Great for transporting to your next show and dealing with uneven tables.
Two is providing a simple solution to adding depth and height ( Topography ) to your project. ( Hills, Valleys, Rivers, Craters and Trenches ) Great for hiding wires for lights!
Three is cost. Moc Blocks provide a 80% savings if you were to use Lego as your filler, its light weight and provides better support!
Block made using a tutorial from Fresh Lemons' Solstice Star Series named Another Star Block.
Made three of these to use in my daughter's quilt. This is the off-kilter green one.

4x5 quilt bee.
Based on a quilt made by the amazing Rita of Redpepperquilts, blog post is here. I think she's coming out with a pattern early next year. I reverse engineered it knowing the block was 12" finished (the little squares are 1.5" finished, and I drafted a simple paper pieced template for the other units).
Colors: Coblat, Aqua, Lime with a white/grey/low volume background.
I really enjoyed digging into my blues and fussy cutting the center star.

CapitaLand Raffles City Chengdu is a building complex built in Chengdu, China designed by Steven Holl Architects. It was built from 2008 to 2012. The Sliced Porosity Block consists of 5 mixed-use towers with offices, apartments, retail and a hotel, which surround a large public plaza. The design is shaped to give the surrounding residential neighborhood enough daylight during the day. The angles of the sun prescribe the shape of the towers. The structure is an exoskeletal concrete frame.

On a visit to Kaiapoi looking for Giraffes November 28, 2014 New Zealand.
Kaiapoi is located approximately 17 kilometres north of central Christchurch, Kaiapoi takes its name from the Māori pā (fortified village) which was built just north of the site of the current town around the year 1700 by the Ngāi Tahu chief Turakautahi. Eventually to become the largest fortified village in the South Island it lay on the site of a stronghold of an earlier tribe, Waitaha whose history and traditions Ngāi Tahu eventually adopted.

Giant fibreglass Giraffe sculptures, reaching 2.5 metres high, are now standing tall on the streets, parks and public spaces of Christchurch and surrounding areas until 24 January 2015. At the end of the public art exhibition, in February, the Giraffes will be auctioned so we can all be part of raising money for local charities and turn the city’s Summer of fun into a helping hand for those who are in need.
