Well, I call it the swamp because ... because ... well ... it's kind of swampy in there when it isn't frozen. When I posted a pano from the boardwalk a little while ago (reprised in Comment section), someone suggested that I take another in winter. So, I did. Seven vertical shots this time.

Late afternoon in the middle of our coldest December. Looks lovely, doesn't it?
This is on the hillside above the 'Frozen valley' shot from earlier.
How many times have you driven by that 'certain spot'...
camera beside you in the car... and thought, 'At some point
I'm gonna stop and shoot here...'? This is one of those spots
for me... and this morning was the time.
It's a two-lane road lined with a canopy of huge trees... and
wide open areas sectioned off by white wooden fences.
And this morning there was... can't really call it a proper fog...
but nicely filtered morning sun to work with.
It wasn't a clean morning... there was a sort of atmospheric
grittiness to the air. But the out-of-camera shots didn't
accurately tell that story... so with the help of some split-toning
and texture... I did. =) Now it feels like this morning!

Sheep tucking in to their breakfast on a cold morning in front of a mature Sycamore tree in very stong winter sunshine and a deep blue sky.
116 Pictures in 2016 #74: Bird with a colour in its name.
This is the best I could do for this Blue Jay. It was so skittish (as were all of his/her friends) that I couldn't get any closer...even with the long lens.

"Have you ever noticed a tree standing naked against the sky,
How beautiful it is?
All its branches are outlined, and in its nakedness
There is a poem, there is a song.
Every leaf is gone and it is waiting for the spring.
When the spring comes, it again fills the tree with
The music of many leaves,
Which in due season fall and are blown away.
And this is the way of life."
~ Krishnamurti
I love trees and think that even when they are standing bare and naked they are beautiful!
Happy Boxing Day my lovely Flickr Friends.
I hope you all had a wonderful day yesterday.
Christmas in the Land of the Laid Back Deweys followed our usual tradition ... tea and presents (but not too early in the morning), then a bit of lazing around, then off to Salisbury Plain for our peaceful meander around the byways.
We've been lucky in recent years, because we've had quite a few bright Christmas Days, that have afforded us lots of photo ops.
Yesterday was NOT bright. Yesterday was grey, with a bit more grey and some drizzle thrown in.
But it was still fun. We still laughed at our own jokes, gave each other copious amounts of cheek, and we even got a few photographs. For me photography-wise, it was a day of trees in the mist ....

Fog with a winter landscape can make for a very serene visual. This was taken during mid-February in the central Maine Highlands. (image M1A1650) Please also visit: acadiamagic.com.
