Preserved British Railways Standard 'Britannia' Class 7MT 4-6-2 Pacific steam locomotive 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' stabled awaiting repair in the dock on February 23rd 2018 at Norwich Station at the end of the Great Eastern Main Line in Norfolk (UK).
70013 limped into Norwich the previous day with a hot big end bearing which ended Ollie's participation in the return leg of 'The Cathedrals Express' railtour back to London Liverpool Street.
An old friend of mine, 70013 is a very special steam locomotive. It is one of only two surviving 'Britannia's' in preservation out of 55 locomotives built.
70013 was built at British Railways Crewe Works in May 1951 and delivered to Norwich Crown Point Depot soon after and ran on the the London to Norwich Great Eastern Main Line until 1963.
70013 was then transferred to Carlisle Kingmoor depot and this actual locomotive ran the very last steam passenger train prior to the withdrawal of steam altogether on British Railways on August 11th 1968.
The very next day August 12th 1968 'she' arrived back in East Anglia en route for a new home at Bressingham Steam Museum at Diss in Norfolk.
Restoration to bring 'her' back to steam began in 2004 at the Great Central Railway Loughborough and on August 10th 2008 'Ollie' was back on the mainline for the first time in 40 years.
I've been hauled behind 'Ollie' several times including on the mainline and the locomotive features heavily in my flickr photostream.

CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEE
A Chestnut-Backed Chickadee perches momentarily on a frosty old rose bud, giving me just enough time to capture it.
Chestnut-Backed Chickadees are the smallest and shortest tailed of all the Chickadees.

I love all birds, but Chestnut-Backed Chickadees have a special place in my heart. They are so small and yet so brave for their small size. I love their cheeky attitude and the way they seem to keep ever so busy, rarely perching more then a few seconds at a time. lol
During the winter months, I put out home made lard/peanut butter/ quick oat mixture for them and the other birds. Many birds love this treat, but the Chickadees make it very clear that they absolutely love this treat. First thing in the morning they will be flying at my back window and will sit on the window sills peaking in at me, hinting for their treats. As soon as I open the back door, they are right there and will readily land on my hand for their treat. Even if I don’t have any goodies out, I kid you not these little birds follow me around my yard. The other day I drove into our driveway, parked my truck and as soon as I opened the truck door, I had three there to greet me. One landed on the canopy of the truck, one right by my head on the top of the open truck door and the third one perched on the stairway railing.
I don’t know what else to say, except, " I love birds"! : )
" WINTER PEANUT BUTTER TREAT"
1 cup lard
1 cup peanut butter ( smooth or crunchy)
4 1/2 cups of “quick” oats
in saucepan, melt lard, turn element off and add peanut butter. Mix the peanut butter in with the lard until it is well blended.
Add the quick oats and mix well.
Let cool. Store in fridge.
Serve, via crumbling with fingers or with small spoon into small chunks and place in a shallow pan, or form into balls and squish into holes in a lard or suet style feeder.

One of the narrow roads in Mdina, Malta and a helpful warning sign for the cars plying these back streets reminding them of the 5 and half feet width - in case they hadn't realised!
The back view! I just followed the photos supplied as best I could - hubby tells me that black 'springy' thing is part of the shock absorber! LOL! I really loved her hairstyle! :-) I was given a photo from the bride's trial hairdresser appt.

As previously mentioned, the attempt of a front shot of Arriva Kent & Surrey 3704 (S704 VKM) resulted in a crystal clear photo of 3734's nearside mirror with 3704 completely out of focus!
So here's a rear shot, to record it operating the 1600 service 34 to Camberley on Saturday 4th January 2014.
It's on loan from Maidstone to Guildford due to the flood at the latter's depot over Christmas.

The violet-backed starling (Cinnyricinclus leucogaster), also known as the plum-colored starling or amethyst starling, is a relatively small species of starling in the family Sturnidae. This strongly sexually dimorphic species is found widely in the woodlands and savannah forest edges of mainland sub-Saharan Africa. It is rarely seen on the ground, but instead commonly found in trees and other sources away from the ground.
Bought this off the rack also. Mad Magazine parodies Back to the Future Part II.
I have to say this cover is decidedly less inspired than the Jack Davis cover to the original Back to the Future parody in 1986.
Finally getting around to posting something... I've been struggling to find time to get many shots recently, due to commitments and short daylight hours. Therefore I've had a few odd shots pile up which I plan on putting up over the christmas period.
In this image, LK53EZA (33381) fronts the Taunton Depot, with another Trident, and two Olympians towards the rear. The Olympian to the left is clearly an S-AAE, however the other I believe is a P-UCW which has been sat there for a week or two now.

The Class of 2019 marched back from Camp Buckner, Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 completing Cadet Basic Training. The New Cadets and cadre passed parents, family and community members as they marched down Washington Road crossing in front of the Superintendent's House - Quarters 100 and then to the apron in front of Washington Hall. They will begin the process of reorganizing into their academic year companies today. Congratulations to the Class of 2019 (and families)!
