Was in the area and thought I'd take a walk around this old hospital again. Its deteriorated quite a bit since the last time I visited but security are still on the ball was tailed most of my walk by a guy in a white van, they seam friendly enough mind you.

Every so often, I take a look back at my archives to see what I was doing a year earlier. Found this shot taken off the back of the Wolfe Island Ferry (February 2008) as some birding friends and I headed home after a day of driving around the snow covered roads of Wolfe Island near Kingston, Ontario looking for hawks and owls and other wildlife. Their highlight of the day was watching me trying to get a photograph of a beautiful male pheasant who just wouldn't cooperate. The pheasant played hide-and-seek with me up and down a hedge row. The pheasant had no trouble strutting atop the three foot deep snow, I did not!

i hate to admit, but in addition to some really charming and subtle details of the actual suit, this tag pretty much me sold me on band of outsiders. (it's easier to read viewed large).

I so want to be back on the East Coast shooting seascapes! I've not got out much with my camera of late, so heres another shot from when we were over there a few weeks ago. At Whitley Bay, again.
Decided a moody mono conversion would take the shot in a different direction than the others i've posted so far.

first, you can see that it's not all that straight (thanks, mom and dad).
but the main problem is the one vertebrae that's kinda outsized by its neighbors. in the grand scheme of things, i was very, very lucky this wasn't worse. then again, it IS worse than it used to be, because of a moment of stupidity on my part.
heilein was right: there's no cure for stupidity, and no appeal.
Tendaba, Gambia. This is typical of what the Gambia gives you. We were on an early morning boat trip to look for the elusive Finfoot. As we rounded a bend in the river, we saw this impressive Pink backed Pelican standing studiously on the bank not ten feet from our boat. And that's Gambia in a nutshell. There's a potential surprise around every corner.

This view of the Prudential and John Hancock Towers was from an overpass not far from Fenway Park. I had two main regrets here: clipping off the "Pru"'s antenna and not catching a train on the tracks.
