The planned diversions due to East Coast engineering work in Scotland, were thrown into chaos on 4 October 2014 after heavy rain caused a landslip and blocked the Tyne Valley line near Brampton. Here one of the East Coast HSTs to be halted by the blockage retreats from the area, running wrong line to the crossover at Low Row where it will gain the up line back to Newcastle. 43295 is now leading the set with 43299 at the rear.

The "back yard" of the Menor Ferry general store.
"Bill Menor traveled from Ohio to Montana before settling in 1892 on the Snake River “where the river was altogether in one place.” He found that the river flow near present-day Moose narrowed to a single channel that could be crossed more easily than the wide, braided channels that comprise most of the Snake River. During the next decade, he built his cabin one room at a time. His brother, Holiday, settled on the other side of the Snake River and operated a limekiln.
Bill painted the general store with whitewash from Holiday’s limekiln. In the early 1900s, the store and ferry drew homesteaders and dudes alike, ordering supplies and crossing the river. Bill also operated a smokehouse and blacksmith shop, raised vegetables supplying produce to the local dude ranches, and served as postmaster. In 1918, he sold his homestead and ferry operation to Maud Noble. Today, period furnishings fill the cabin, and the storekeeper still sells period goods to visitors who venture to the store. Grand Teton Association manages the store; open seven days a week during the peak summer season." from the Grand Teton National Park website -- www.nps.gov/grte/learn/historyculture/menor.htm

For the Scottish AFOLs Christmas party last year we were asked to build something related to our work. I work for a wave energy company, so decided a near-shore oscillating water column would be appropriate.
I started this in the middle of November last year and due to a variety of reasons, including (but not limited to): Christmas, trips to work on OWCs, badminton, Age of Empires 2, builders block, Sunday-league football, H. G. Wells and 6 family birthdays; it was never finished.
I'm not happy with it - I wanted a detailed interior but I'm itching to tear it down now and move on. It's a long way from my best work, but hopefully some of you may find the concept interesting, even if the execution is lacking.
Based on the Pico OWC in Portugal (not the one I work on, but I couldn't build a scale-model of the one I work on to make sure I'd still have a job on Monday).
