The last from me of this superb little bird. What a fantastic opportunity we have all had over the past few days to get up close and personal. A first for me and I'm sure many others.
After testing at the National Research Council Canada facilities in Ottawa for over two months, part of VIA Rail's new Siemens Charger set is heading back towards the Montreal Maintenance Centre. It is blasting through Dorval with a Siemens Charger locomotive bringing up the rear and is running as VIA 628.
Its nose looking as rough as the bow of the Roger Blough, DMIR 405 leads a U-790 Minntac empty out of Two Harbors with 145 cars. Conductor Ashley informed customer service that their train ID was for Minntac East but they would be a west loader today (Minntac has two loadouts).
Photographing Bakersfield and its surrounding, this image is prove that there is beauty everywhere. You just need to open your eyes and mind to it.
I rarely see the Chestnut-backed Chickadee, most of the time it is the Black-capped Chickadee. I have never seen more than one at a time. This one was hanging with it's cousin.
Sega 007 James Bond GoldenEye Pinball Machine
Goldeneye was Sega's first pinball effort in 1996. The theme is licensed from the James Bond movie Goldeneye, the first which features Pierce Brosnan as 007.
The major toy in this game is a rotating Satellite with a magnet in its center capable of catching and holding a pinball. The player can load the Satellite via a Pop-Up Ramp which rises up from the playfield. The machine also has a Ball Saver, which consists of a magnet system which catches and flings the ball away from the outhole and back into play.
Black-backed woodpeckers forage in dead trees (especially recently burned trees up to eight years postfire) looking for wood-boring beetle larvae. The yellow crown patch indicates this is a male. The white underneath is smudged gray from the soot.

Kara the Kickboxer practices her Back Kick.
She's become my favorite minifig from Series 16 but she's quite hyperactive :-) I can't seem to get her away from that punching bag :-)
Looking back toward Boulder City with the River Mountain Trail switchbacking between Red & Black Mountains. An easy trail, mostly because of the work of the Civilian Conservation Corps between 1935-1937. They built quality, and they built to last.
Sisters living in an informal settlement around Banganga tank in Mumbai. I am sure their parents are very proud sending them to a private school!

I chose the title for this shot for two reasons: one, this beautiful tiny pond sits on the property of a preschool called Back To Basics Childcare in Lebanon, Maine and two, because as I was pondering poetic words for this photo, I realized that the serenity in the image reminds me that sometimes we just have to get "back to the basics" of life; air, water, breathing -- to achieve harmony in our lives.
Dragon's Back … the view towards Kowloon on the eponymous trail.

Yes, that would be my car. I went to camp this afternoon with Julia to pick up Brandon. I saw him in the playground a few feet away from where I parked. I ran over to talk to him and just as I met up with him, we heard what sounded like fireworks. As we turned around to see, we watched as a huge pine tree fell and crushed my car. LOTS of damage, yet somehow drivable. I haven't stopped laughing since it happened. It's keeping me from crying. :)
(told ya my life was full of excitement!)
