Very large dog in an Austin Healey sports car, waiting for the owner.

A 1980s view in the typically dingy back streets of Lhasa. Solid housing, but they must be freezing in the long Tibetan winter.

This was in the vicinity of the Jokhang Temple, and so I guess it still exists, although a glimpse at Google maps shows an explosion of development in the city. Gone are the peaceful almost rural walks down by the Lhasa River with the Potala Palace dominating the skyline, and I see some of the outlying temples have been virtually engulfed by the urban sprawl.

As they say - “Never Go Back”

They’re back again this year but last year’s nesting spot was destroyed by decay and winter weather. I don’t think I’ll ever have the opportunity I had last year to watch these beautiful woodpeckers in such an up-close and personal manner. The Red-headed woodpeckers visit the feeders and suet daily but not nearly with the same frequency as all of the other woodpeckers. I feel so lucky to have them in an area where they don’t generally nest. I believe this is the 4th year we’ve had them. #Redheadedwoodpeckers.

Late afternoon light while waiting for larger birds.

Time of plenty for the Honey Bees.

This is, in fact, a training ship passing by Hurst Castle near the Isle of Wight.

At the end of this week I will be moving back to Japan to teach English, which means that my dolls have to go into storage for the next year or so (actually breaks my heart). This time I'm going to Mobara, Chiba which I'm super happy about. I wanted a Chiba placement so bad!

Although my dolls are going into storage, I am planning to take Hayden and Shunsuke with me because I missed Hayden so badly last time I can't leave without him again.

For the next short while until I get settled and have internet again, there won't be any pictures. This is only temporary though! I love photographing my dolls more than anything.

Wish me luck! *crosses fingers* :D

Lightning over our back lawn on the 17 Nov 2016.

Some great lightning bolts here but a bit of a boring silhouette of a Frangipani tree in the garden to go with it.

The breakwater on the Clarence River at Yamba is quite long and this shot takes in the view looking back towards the township. Turners Beach is on the right, almost embraced by the curving, sandstone rocks of the breakwater, many of which were taken from a quarry on the north eastern face of the hill on which the lighthouse stands. The hill itself is not that high but has quite steep sides. It goes from the river across the front of town, creating a wall between the central business area and the beaches on the eastern side. As it goes south it peters out within a couple of kilometres.

Behind us, the great Clarence River, southernmost of the Northern Rivers flows into the sea through twin breakwaters, stretching out from the north and south banks. The small town of Iluka sits on the northern side of the river. There is a ferry linking the two for school kids and others to make use of facilities in the larger town of Yamba and to avoid the much longer drive inland between the two centres.

Found this slide when I was filing my films in the weekend. I think this was a collaboration of Mr. V and Mr. H. :D

Black headed gulls are notorious for their scavenging behavior and will often steal food from other birds or even humans. They are particularly adept at swooping in and snatching food right out of people's hands or stealing food left unattended. Their boldness and agility make them successful opportunistic feeders in various environments.

The better your summer has been the more difficult and heavier your bag feels. And this year has been specially hard for me to say bye, it has been an amazing summer, my best one so far. This year is not just another "back to school", I started I new chapter of my life as a university student here, in the UK.
