Close-up of the BBC Micro keyboard with the f0 key removed to compare it with a keytop from the Compukit UK101. The cruciform fitting on the keyswitch is identical, but this version of the BBC keyboard has a straight stem and an angled keytop, whereas the UK101 has both parts straight.

Slightly more dramatic view of Broadcasting House. The mast is completely ornamental, by the way - the building's various link and communication antennas are hidden further back.

Is a cookie jar a "gadget"? It is just as unecessary and fun as any other "gadget" that I have in my kitchen. But if this is unacceptable in the theme, please just let me know.

I must say that I was feeling very cranky about how this block was going for the past few days but somehow I like it better today.

Block measures 3.5 inches square.

The BBC Newsgathering team at Park Western wanted a supersize wall map of London so they could visualise where their teams were but more importantly where they needed to be. Looking at a map on a computer screen has many advantages but sometimes when you need to see the big picture you need to see a big picture, hence the reason A-Z Maps and About Signs produced this beast.

The 3m x 2.2m map was printed on our hi definition latex printer, sealed with an anti scratch laminate then mounted to a 10mm pvc backing panel.

The only problem (other than the mysterious fire alarm bell that just appeared) was that that the doors at the BBC were not big enough to get a map panel of this size through. With this in mind we decided to make the map in two sections with a hidden specially designed mechanical locking section that would be able to line up the two very detailed images perfectly.

A bit of a spelling error for the BBC. They have put Mike as a name of a person not as Mic short for microphone.

This stairway leads to the basement which once contained the control room of BBC Ottringham.

This photostream has been created as supporting material for a documentary called " Ottringham Calling " first broadcast on BBC Radio Humberside at Christmas 2013. This photostream is not however operated by the BBC.

You can now hear the programme via the internet. Go to soundcloud dot com and put "BBC Ottringham " into the searchbox. Look for a black and white picture of a German confiscating radios.
