I was surprised to come across my photo on BBC I Player the other day! They did ask for permission to use it some time ago .

Blackness Boating Club. I went out to photograph Blackness Castle at low tide on Monday night. Turns out that Blackness Bay is an area of mud flats at low tide. Kept sinking in it as soon as I ventured from the shore. The sun set without fanfare too. Then 20 minutes after sunset the sky got some colour over to the west. I grabbed this to make the trip worthwhile. The castle is behind me. I set up where the boats are launched. The only area of terra firma in the bay.
This is from one RAW file, processed twice once for the foreground and then for the sky before blending them together with a layer mask in Photoshop. Used a Lee 0.9 ND Pro Glass filter to get some movement in the sky.

The big cog-wheel-door (which always reminded me of Deep Space Nine) is as convincing as the rest of the set, until you thump it and hear the dull thud of plywood.

The BBC Oder is seen here at the ABES Terminal at the 5th Haven dock, loading the patrol boat "Secwav 1".
The second hand boat weight about 116 tons is being positioned into place by the tug "Groenland". It will be dischardged at the port of Onne (Nigeria) to start a new life at the port(s) of Lagos.
